One of my favorite products are NAS boxes, I’m not sure exactly why. I think it’s the fact that they’re just so useful. NAS boxes are much better than just an external hard drive ever could be that’s for sure. Thecus is a company that’s well known for their NAS systems, they make some of the best on the market. They’ve recently introduced a new line of NAS servers called XXX, the X’s stand for Xtreme Power, Xtreme Function and Xtreme Value. Today for review I’ve got the latest NAS server from Thecus called the N2200XXX, so let’s just get into it as we’ve got a lot to cover.

Today’s complete review of the OCZ RevoDrive 3 x2 PCIe SSD is published on the heels of our ‘Quick Look’ of the Revo 3 a few weeks back which resulted in a flurry of attention by PC enthusiasts worldwide. As many e-mails that were received in result, they never compared to the backlinks returned from dozens of forums with members salivating over the Revo 3 x2 and anticipating its release date. It turns out that our ‘Computex Taipei’ RevoDrive 3 x2 SSD benchmarks were an exclusive first look at this cards performance as we tried a new approach in conducting first hand independent benchmarks at Computex on nothing more than a flash drive.

Even before the Corsair Force GT arrived at my door, I knew it would be hot. I get a lot of emails from readers and don't mind answering each and every one, but right after our review of the Force 3 went live I was flooded with emails asking about the Force GT. The only other product that I can think that generated so much interest to date was the Fusion-io ioDrive.

At Computex 2011 Cameron was hand delivered a new product from RunCore that we weren't expecting. The new RunCore Pro V Plus builds upon the success of the original Pro V, but changes the script a bit by using new IMFT 25nm flash. Drives with this controller / flash combination made a lot of noise in the tech press a few months ago. To make a long story short, one SSD manufacturer (not RunCore) made changes to their build of materials list and started selling new 25nm drives under the same model name as the older 3xnm drives. The new 25nm offerings are a bit slower than the older models and also have less user accessible capacity.
Storage
Just recently we looked at the RunCore Pro V Plus, our first in house drive to use a SandForce SF-1200 paired with 25nm flash. You may remember this combination from a recent fiasco that revolved around OCZ Technology replacing their SF-1200 / 3Xnm Vertex 2 drives with the new 25nm models without changing the model number or name. The new 25nm drives are significantly slower than the old 3Xnm flash models and unsuspecting customers were up in arms over getting drives with less usable capacity that were also slower than what they expected.

Who knew Plextor made SSDs? Well they do and they’re sitting pretty with a new SATA III drive. It’s part of the M2 range and is known fully as the Plextor PX-128M2S. There’s plenty of shelf life improving features that are all well and good, but you’re here for the performance numbers. So without furtherado, I present to you my findings.
