The Nobility Series NH01 External HDD, is an interesting backup/data transfer solution from ADATA, using USB 3.0, but also fully USB 2.0 compatible. The enclosure has a professional look and the product itself is excellent for people that are frequently on the go.

Two years ago at CES we told you about ioSafe and their then new disaster proof external USB 2.0 hard drive that would withstand temperatures up to 1550 Degrees F for up to one half hour. The original Solo was also the first hard drive enclosure that would sustain being fully submerged in water for up to 72 hours. Then, exactly one year ago we tested the ioSafe in our own lab too see what kind of performance we could get out of such a robust system.

The need for throughput speed has brought us to the next paradigm shift in data access: the Solid State Drive, or SSD. If you're any type of PC enthusiast then you know that SSDs use fast NAND flash chips to store and retrieve data, which have significantly higher throughput rates and lower access times than even the fastest of magnetic hard drives. These drives are starting to become cheap enough that they're within reach of the average consumer, and every computing enthusiast should have at least one.

Bringing the PC gaming experience to a console is no easy task, but Penguin United's Eagle Eye Converter succeeds in providing gamers the precision of a keyboard and mouse combo on the PS3 - and it does so without lag.

Wir haben einen neuen Artikel online, in dem wir uns mit einem praktischen Einsatzbeispiel der Intel X25-V befassen.

It's been quite some time since we've published a RAID Report, but don't think we forgot about the users looking to get the most out of their systems. SandForce has produced a really good SSD controller that is very resistant to "SSD Fragmentation". The core product of the consumer SandForce SF-1200 is the enterprise SF-1500 controller. Enterprise customers almost always design and use RAID for redundancy in their servers, but we have still yet to receive a hardware RAID solution that is able to pass along the TRIM command.

It is no secret that solid state drives are very profitable and every company is looking to take a slice of the green pie. The latest addition to the growing number of companies offering SSDs is Zalman. Zalman, a company best known for their high performance CPU heat sink coolers and high quality PC cases, might seem to be late for the party, but their entry comes at a time when the winners have been established and little chance of faultier was possible.

The RevoDrive X2 is essentially an original RevoDrive with a daughter card piggybacked on top. This daughter card adds two additional SandForce controllers and room for more memory chips, bringing the total controller count to four. A RAID0 configuration manages the four controllers and memory chips, resulting in what OCZ proclaims is a blazing fast PCIe SSD solution. We were pretty impressed with the original RevoDrive and can only wonder if the follow-up product is equally as impressive.

This morning, SandForce officially releases their SF-2200 series processors to manufacturers which are capable of parallel transfer speeds of 500MB/s read and write. It is hard to believe that SandForce only opened their doors just over a year ago and their impact has changed the way we are looking at solid state drives today. Earlier this year, I made a statement that I believed SandForce to be in a position to equal those who have made such great impact on computer technology before them, most noteably Intel and Microsoft. I will stand by that and after reading a bit of what we have to offer, you just may understand why.
