The ioSafe Solo is designed to allow the hard drive inside to withstand a single disaster, fire or water. This does not mean you can drop it in the ocean for a day then connect the ioSafe Solo to your PC like nothing happened. What it does mean is that the enclosure will take the damage while keeping the hard drive itself safe. With that said I am left with two choices; I can either drop the ioSafe in water or make a fire. Hmm, no competition there... When in doubt make a fire! Words to live by.

Today we are looking at the Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA-II hard disk drive. This particlar drive comes with a 5 year warranty, is quiet whilst not ruling out being very quick too. Lots of hard drives on the market are quicker, but you compensate by having a noisy drive. This drive has all the features you would want, from a trusted manufacturer.
The BlacX Duet is a very simple yet effective product for quickly accessing data on any two hard drives. And when I say any two drives, I mean it in a literal sense. The docking station supports all 2.5” and 3.5” SATA drives up to 2TB, so the chances of incompatibility with any current drives you have are slim to none. Furthermore, installation is completely tool-free and the absence of fans allow for silent operation.
I know the SSD is faster than the HDD, but what I didn’t really know was how it affected the system performance overall, so being a reviewer I ran tests, lots of tests, to find the answer. I ran storage specific tests, I ran overall system tests and separate tests as well and I found the obvious that the SSD is faster. I also found the not so obvious as well that at the system level the performance seemed lower with the SSD installed. It's been a while since any of Thecus products have graced our site, but today I've got one of their newest ones the N2200. It's a two bay NAS box that can use both 2.5” and 3.5” hard drives. The designed is different than other Thecus products I've reviewed before, it's aesthetically pleasing, it's got small size and it's easy to use. The CRU-DataPort SecureDock is definitely a unique product. This is not your average external hard drive enclosure! Offering both USB 2.0 and eSATA connectivity, the SecureDock manages to do what it says and does so extremely quickly as our testing shows - especially if you use the eSATA interface. In terms of encryption, the device is very easy to use. There is no software to install and everything is seamless. The lock-and-key system and mini-USB style security keys work well as well. My favorite feature has to be the fact that you can use any SATA hard drive with the SecureDock; you're not limited to just the 500 GB unit that comes with it.
