Capacity in a SD card is nothing without performance and today's media enthusiasts are looking for just that combination to fill their media needs for both photo and video. This is where the Patriot EP Series 128GB SDXC card, performing at up tp 50MB/s, fits the bill. Still though, one has to be in awe of the storage advance we have seen in so few years.
After being underwhelmed by the Mach Xtreme MX-GX last week, we are moving onto the new Sharkoon Flexi-Drive Extreme Duo USB 3.0. Personally, I haven't seen too many Sharkoon products, but the company has a solid reputation. Their product line up spans several categories, but storage components and flash products seem to be their speciality.

The LG N2A2 NAS system is a very good solution for the average home consumer, it’s very easy to use and it performs fast enough for a NAS system at this level. Its whole feature set covers most of the requirements that a home consumer has.
It is hard to get too excited about a card reader, but the FCR-HS4 is definitely a nice one. While I typically prefer these kind of things to be compact for portability and so I can hide them away in a drawer, since I have been using this one I leave it right out on my desk. The specifications Corsair has listed for the Force Series 100GB SSD drive are 285MB/s read and 275MB/s write which is well above the 260MB/s read/write specified by Sandforce. Pretty high expectations are being set by Corsair. We put it through our battery of benchmarks to see if they can deliver.
No matter how much advancement in technology we see through the years one thing continues to stay unaltered and that's the continuously growing storage demands/needs for most enthusiasts and professionals. Personally for backup purposes only i use quite a few Terabytes and i know many others who use even more so i really hope that the 5TB HDD models will get released sooner rather than later (Q1 2013 is the projected date after all). Now as you all know lately we've been focusing most of our efforts into testing all the latest storage related devices to hit the market from internal devices such as SSDs and HDDs up to portable devices including USB flash drives and 3.5"/2.5" external HDDs. Still the market is huge, new models get released almost on a daily basis and so today in our hands we have yet another such device the Armor A15 1TB USB 3.0 2.5" portable hard drive from Silicon Power.
Roughly a week ago some friends visited our testing grounds (lab as some people like to call it) to see how we do things and from all the things they saw in here what really piqued their interest was the QNAP TS-469U-RP rackmount NAS Server which has taken a permanent role as our download server, DVB-T server and surveillance station. Of course the moment our friends learned of the price tag that specific mode has (or had since it's not widely available anymore) they were slightly disappointed since they too are looking to purchase NAS servers mainly for use as download servers and media players. Personally i also think that a NAS server used for media playback (thus placed close to your TV set) also has to be small in size and not just cost-effective something which obviously most NAS servers we've tested/used over the years are not. Thecus is trying to change that by introducing the latest N2560 2-Bay NAS Server which we've been testing for roughly a week now.
When it comes to solid-state drives, OCZ needs no introduction. The manufacturer has been around long before SSDs first entered the consumer market, and helped push them towards the performance and affordability standards of today. Out of the original bunch of companies, OCZ is one of the very few remaining that still holds a sizeable share in the SSD market.
I'll be honest - I never knew how useful an internal enclosure could be until I tried out this offering from Icy Dock. The ability to swap out hard drives without opening the case is a huge convenience to users who store files that span multiple drives. There is no loss of performance to worry about either – testing showed that transferring files back and forth is just as quick as if the drive was hooked up directly to the motherboard.
