Our review today is, not only a look at NVELO Dataplex SSD caching software, but also, a round up of just about every mSATA SSD available today. It strikes to the heart of those of us who want performance, capacity and value in our desktop systems and notebooks and same very interesting results transpire.

While not as common as Catalyst releases, major ForceWare releases are probably more important for the simple fact that they don't come as often. The fact that they don't come as often also means that people expect more out of them, since AMD make the effort to release drivers monthly.

NVIDIA released a new high-end GPU model today in the form of the GeForce GTX 780. We check it out to see how it performs under our gaming tests.

The Phantom case is one of their more popular models, and is available in many different colors to suit your taste. The cases are available in white, black, red, and even pink for the grrl gamers (and some boy gamers: you know who you are!).

The RevoDrive is a bit different than other solid state drives, in that, it does not attach through a typical SATA II port, but rather a PCI Express slot on the motherboard of the computer itself. It is a simple installation and the warranty on the card is 3 years limited with performance results for the tested drive advertised at an amazing 540MB/s read and 480MB/s write performance with a 4k aligned IOPS of 75,000 IOPS. The drive is available from 50GB to 480GB sizes with typical pricing ranging from as little as $199 for the 50GB version with performance of 540MB/s read and 450MB/s write for capacities less than 120GB.

The OCZ Vertex is leaps and bounds better than the original JMicron
Solid State Drive. If you're an owner of the first generation drives and
noticing your performance and system is starting to fall behind, it is time for an upgrade. I was originally pleased with the JMicron MLC SSD but after a few short weeks of use my notebook started to hang for a few seconds at a time. As OCZ clearly indicated on their packaging, my OCZ Vertex gives me faster access times resulting in a far more stable machine. The 64MB cache has made a world of difference and OCZ didn't sacrifice too much bandwidth for the improved access time. We're still well into the 140MB/s Write and 200MB/s Read. With Win7 just around the corner and the OCZ Vertex already claiming to support the TRIM command, OCZ's Vertex has a very bright future ahead of itself.

By utilizing the PCI-Express x4 slot the OCZ Revo 50GB drive can run at its full potential, allowing unhindered access to the data and can really improve the daily use of your computer. If you haven't made the switch to SSD technology yet this is an excellent time.

One of the leading pioneers bringing SSD technology to the mainstream marketplace has been OCZ, and the item we have for review today is their Agility 2 drive based on the SandForce 1200 controller. The SandForce-based Agility 2 replaces the previous generation Indilinx-controlled Agility that Rutledge reviewed last year. Based on specifications, the Agility 2 is very similar to OCZ's Vertex 2, like the 50Gb model that Shawn had a look at last month. OCZ offers these models in a wide variety of sizes, ranging from 40/50/100/200/400Gb on the standard drives to 60/90/120/180/240/480Gb on their Extended Capacity versions.
