With an impressive set of specifications, we put the new Intel 520 Series 240GB SSD through our gauntlet of tests.

Our recent RAID review of three Intel 520 SSDs on the Highpoint 2720SGL 6Gbps RocketRAID Controller opened our eyes as we didn’t think performance of 1.5GB/s could be reached with three SSDs. Those results were just a taste of what was yet to come as we simply had to throw eight Crucial M4 256GB SATA 3 SSDs onto the RocketRAID for a true run. How does 3GB/s performance grab you for a start? Unbelievable? That’s what we thought as well but we did it!

Today we will be taking a look at the single bay DS112j, which is the latest model in Synology's NAS range for home use, offering file storage, sharing and data protection. We will also take a look at Synology's latest operating system, the very recently released DiskStation Manager 4.0.

The Solid State market has been thriving in the last six months. Part of this growth has been caused by the Thailand floods which raised the prices of mechanical drives. If you are in the market for a new Solid State drive, but only have £100 to spend then the product we are reviewing today will be of interest.
The new Kingston SSDnow V+ 200 90GB (SVP200S3/90G) retails in the UK for £92.99 inc vat which is set to appeal to a huge enthusiast audience.

Our SSD analysis today is going to be on both the 256GB and 512GB versions of the OCZ Vertex 4 SATA 3 SSD and you are going to need to take a seat for this. We guarantee that there has never been an SSD capable of creating such a stir in the SSD world and will not be at any time in the near future. In fact, I will guarantee that you will look at solid state drives in an entirely new light by the time you’re finished reading this report. After all, the Vertex 4 is truly the first of its kind.

Our report today will examine the Memoright MS-701 mSATA SSD. The MS-701 is the first of its kind as it is the only SATA 3 SandForce Driven mSATA SSD in existence at the 240GB capacity point. Even better news is the fact that Memoright, a company that has remained loyal to enterprise and business sales traditionally, has set up shop in the ‘good ole’ USA and the MS-701 will be available through the consumer channel soon enough. Stay tuned for our update on this!

The Crucial M4 solid state drive was one of the most popular and most successful solid state drives of 2011. Much of that success can be attributed to Crucial’s reputation for reliable, quality-made products and because they are one of the largest memory producers out there. When the M4 first came out it only had a rated read speed of 415MB/s, which is pretty far off from what we’ve seen from other solid state drives in 2011. Towards the end of 2011 Crucial released a firmware upgrade that boosted the rated speeds to 500MB/s read and 260MB/s write. A nice improvement! So today we have the M4 in our labs and we will be taking it through the paces.

Today we are going to be reporting on the Plextor M3P 256GB SATA 3 SSD. Pairing Marvell’s venerable 88SS9174 controller with the latest Toshiba 24nm Toggle Mode NAND, the Pro is not much different from the Plextor M3 SSD that we reviewed a short time ago. Aside from the new thinner 7mm chassis, the only difference you’ll find between the regular M3 Standard and the M3 Pro is the custom Plextor firmware being employed. That might just be enough to put it over the top.
