Micron's new P400m enterprise SSD provides excellent endurance characteristics in conjunction with superior data protection, consistent performance and a low power threshold.

The Micron P420m, announced earlier this summer, is a half-height, half-length (HHHL) PCIe storage device that augments Micron’s PCIe enterprise storage line. The P420m has a lot to live up to. If you remember back to last October, we reviewed the Micron P320h and came away thoroughly impressed. Massive amounts of speed, endurance and parallelism were at our disposal. With the P420m, Micron is at it again, but this time they brought MLC NAND to the table instead of the bulletproof SLC NAND they used in the P320h.

Intended for business users, the Micron P400e offers solid performance coming and data reliability from its custom firmware driven Marvell 9174 controller, although the lack of encryption and weak 4k writes are definitely soft spots which may not be too much of an issue for some...

Today for review I’ve got another SSD, this time it’s from Micron and it’s an entry level enterprise product. The drive is the RealSSD P400e and it has a capacity of 200gb. This drive is meant to have a low cost but yet perform well in enterprise situations, of course they can be used in home setup as well. It utilizes the SATA III interface for maximum speeds and it’s made to be durable and have a long life.

So mixing and matching is doable on modern non proprietary controllers and though this is an Intel controller I have done much the same on AMD controllers. The manuals even say you can do it but yes it is recommended to use the same size and interface but that is recommended it does not mean it is a rule. Yes it is best to match sizes and speeds but it is not an absolute.

One thing that has pleased many a hardware nerd in the past few years is that geek culture has received a bit more recognition in main steam society; it's no longer hugely uncool to be a bit more technologically inclined. Because of this, there's certain nerdy fashions that are beginning to cross over; one of these is the pen drive round the neck. However finding one that appeals to women was always going to be a bit harder to do, however Moneaul Swarovksi have a solution: crystal.

Today we will be reviewing the Monster Digital 400GB Le Mans SSD. This SSD brings with it a hefty amount of overprovisioning with Toshiba Toggle NAND and an SF-2281 under the hood. Monster certainly isn’t the first name that pops into mind when one thinks of SSDs. Branching out into the new market of high performance SSDs is breaking new ground for this long standing company, so we intend to see how the newly formed Monster Digital division fares with their first release.
