Nearly two years ago, OCZ purchased Indilinx and ever since we've waited to see the fruits of that investment. That time is here. The Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller graces the innards Vector Series SSDs for which OCZ, now under new leadership, promises to deliver with a renewed focus on quality and reliability in addition to extreme performance. Will the Vector deliver or is has the Indilinx purchase been largely a bust? See what we found out in our latest SSD review.

On a number of motherboards that we look at today, we find a feature that to some is a little overlooked and in some cases ignored altogether, namely the mSATA port. mSATA is not a brand new technology in its own right and has been around for a few years now, mainly in the laptop and notebook markets where space is at a premium and the compact build of the drives is well suited.

ASUS is widely known for producing computer parts and peripherals, but rarely do they indulge in anything pre-made. Introduce the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T, and now we have seemingly one of the first ASUS products in the mobile market. Frankly speaking, it makes sense for ASUS to dive into tablets. They already produce premium lines of business and gaming laptops, so tablets are the next logical direction. It certainly doesn’t become a question as to whether ASUS can make their name in the market, but rather how well.

If Intel manages to make the SSD 335 significantly more affordable than the Samsung 830 256GB and the Crucial m4 256GB, then it becomes a potentially interesting entry-level SSD option. With current prices the 335 is a dime-a-dozen SSD, nothing more.

Kingston, like other memory manufacturers, wanted to get into the solid state storage game a few years back. At the time they chose to partner with Intel, offering their own label on the chipmaker’s first gen SSDs like enterprise-oriented X25-E. Eventually, they branched out with new controllers from Toshiba and JMicron, resulting in a bewildering array of options. More recently, Kingston switched to second generation SandForce ASICs for the original HyperX, eventually leading to a host of SF-powered offerings for consumer and businesses alike. Part of what made the original HyperX such an interesting product was its use of 5,000PE cycle-rated flash. Due to their longstanding relationship with Intel, Kingston was able to get their hands on Intel’s special stash of 25nm NAND rated at 5K PE cycles for the first HyperX. That drive, and the more value conscious 3K model which followed, went on to become incredibly popular with enthusiasts.

Nowadays most people own quite large digital media collections and that is the main reason behind the need we have for large capacity hard disk drives (aside for backup purposes always). However single external HDDs are not really the solution to that since they do take quite a bit of space and if you get more than just one you will also have to use more than just one connection port (if you want to have access to all of them at the same time). External docking stations do work well and in some occasions even better than many enclosures out there but with such solutions your drives are unprotected and again most only have two docks. Now there aren't really that many external enclosures available currently out there with more than just 2 bays and the ones that are available are quite expensive for consumer use but lucky for us the market grows each day and so RaidSonic decided to release their very own ICY BOX IB-3640SU3 USB 3.0 4 bay JBOD external enclosure.

Samsung is now officially the first to offer a TLC NAND based drive thanks to their fabrication prowess and desire to innovate. The 840 Series, powered by Samsung's own triple core controller, takes the reins of this value oriented drive and puts up some nice performance numbers against a host of MLC NAND based drives. But what exactly is TLC NAND and why should you care? Have a read of our latest SSD review to find out.
