Solid Sate Drives are now becoming cheaper and more accessible to the general consumer and with the boost in sales companies are now able to upgrade the technology making SSD devices faster than ever. The SATA based SSD has been around for quite a few years now and as the technology advances and moves on we are now seeing more PCI-Express SSD cards being developed. One such card that is taking the making by storm is the OCZ RevoDrive3 PCI-E SSD, which is what we have to be reviewed for you today...

With the release of Intels X79 chipset and new 2011 socket it was only a matter of time before we saw Motherboards aimed at the gamer. X79 brings Quad Channel memory architecture and PCI 3.0 supporting the RAM and Video Cards respectively. Finally we get to take a look at the infamous ASRock Fatal1ty Professional Motherboard with the new X79 Chipset. The new X79 chipset brings PCI3.0 and Quad Channel Ram onto the Intel market. PCI3.0 is aimed squarely at gamers because of its throughput for the latest high end GPUs and this board has 4x of them. Fatal1ty has always been aimed at the power-user and gamer and they have (seemingly) not disappointed at first glance. All of this leaves us excited to get our hands on the board. ASRock has given us this boiled down spec sheet which leave us drooling...

The Renice X3 240GB mSATA SSD will be our second review of a high capacity mSATA SSD and follows of our recent review of the Samsung PM830 256GB mSATA SSD. While the Renice is SATA 2, with the Samsung PM830 being SATA 3, its value cannot be understated as it is only the second mSATA SSD that has reached this capacity to date. The Renice X3 is a 240GB ‘SandForce Driven’ mSATA SSD that is only 1/3 the size of a business card and under 6 grams in weight.

Instead of individually testing solid state drives i mostly prefer to wait a while and conduct a thorough comparison between all the latest models in the market. Because of that a few months ago i gathered and compared 16 of the latest and fastest SATA III solid state drives to hit the market from most manufacturers in the field. However such massive comparisons is not something one can do very often not only because of time constraints but also because we rarely see similar products getting released by many manufacturers at the same time (graphics cards excluded) and so today we our review will be focused on a single solid state drive and more specifically the latest HyperX 3k 240GB model by Kingston.

It's like the full size model, only thinner and a little faster. Ultrabook buyers, pay close attention to this SSD.

The DataTraveler Elite 3.0 is a capless drive, which means folks like myself who invariably lose their caps can rest easy. With USB 3.0 speeds of 70MB/s read, 30MB/s write it should be fast enough for most users.
