As the first drive to be based on the new SandForce SF-2281 controller the OCZ Vertex 3 claims to offer read speeds of 550MB/sec and write speeds of 500MB/sec. The question is, will it hold up under closer scrutiny in our other benchmarks that put its other performance credentials to the test?

Back on March 2011, Seagate debuted their original Barracuda XT 3TB hard drive, model ST33000651AS, which used five platters to supply 3000 gigabytes of capacity over a SATA 6.0 GB/s interface. Seven short months later, they've returned to introduce a replacement: the Seagate Barracuda 3TB hard drive ST3000DM001, which features the same 6 GB/s interface and 64MB cache buffer but now utilizes only three 1GB density platters. Seagate has also introduced a number of refined technologies to help improve overall hard drive performance, including: dual core 40nm processor technology, DDR2 DRAM buffer, and refined caching algorithms. By reducing disc platters from five to three, it prolongs servo motor life and reduces heat output. Benchmark Reviews compared these two hard drives, to see exactly what's been gained.

Solid State Drives are selling well in 2011, with a growing percentage of enthusiast users adopting one as a fast, primary boot drive. A few weeks ago we reviewed the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB drive, and today we will compare it against the ADATA S511 240GB, a hot new model set to offer the same stunning levels of performance, but at a slightly lower price point.

The Crucial M500 doesn't set any new benchmark records, but that's also not what Crucial set out to do. Nevertheless, the Crucial M500 480 GB is one of the fastest SSDs in this segment. Moreover, the Crucial M500 480 GB has a very competitive price. Crucial has indicated that prices will likely go down even more in the coming weeks and months. And if they want to go toe-to-toe with the Samsung 840 (not Pro), that additional drop will be necessary. On the other hand, the benchmark scores show that the Crucial M500 480GB is slightly faster than the Samsung 840 500GB on average.

In our search to find a Crucial M500 960GB for sale, we stumbled across a new high-capacity SSD. The MyDigitalSSD BP4 is a solid product, we've already tested the other capacity sizes, but today we see if the large capacity model does as well as the smaller versions.

Since their advent, SSD's have been at the top of the wish list for any PC enthusiast. Crucial presented us with the CT128M225, their performance 128GB SSD. Deciding to wait until the market matured a little, Crucial released this new drive with an Indilinx Barefoot storage controller. This new controller is far superior to the JMicron storage controller that was in many first generation SSD's. Being the self proclaimed memory experts, their intuition was spot on. So does this new performance SSD have what it takes to match the price and performance of the big competitors in the market right now? The only way to find out is to read on.

Offering very good data transfer speeds, one of the most complete bundles I’ve ever seen and an exceptional price/capacity ratio the brand new V+200 120GB is a worthy addition to the SSDNow business line of solid state drives by Kingston.

Solid State Drive storage began as a technology best suited for durable computer devices, then slowly evolved into the notebook and desktop space with affordable high-speed SATA-based SSD solutions. Once SSDs became mainstream for power users, the demand for high-performance workstations and servers soon followed. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the OCZ RevoDrive3 X2 PCI-E workstation-class solid state drive against several enthusiast options. Available in 240-960GB capacities, the model RVD3X2-FHPX4 PCI-Express workstation-class SSD uses OCZ's SuperScale storage controller to produce up to 230,000 IOPS with transfers up to 1500 MB/s.

Kingston's line of flash drives have been around for a number of years and through that time we've seen some fantastic looking and performing drives which range from small capacity, compact units ideal for attaching to your keys right through to the top end HyperX drives that push the speed factor to the next level. The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 G3 is one of the latest drives to roll off the production line and coincides with the unveiling of the worlds first 1TB USB flash drive, which we saw earlier in the year at CES 2013.
