Taking part in online game beta tests while also performing hardware reviews at the same time is not only incredibly tiresome (especially if you are participating in 3 closed betas) but also takes an amazing amount of time (even more if you really enjoy the games you're testing) and so because of that lately I’ve been focusing on peripheral devices (such as gaming mice, keyboards, speakers and headsets) which i can use while testing these games in order to save every bit of time that i possibly can (i do need some sleep after all). However exceptions are always welcome and so today we will be taking a look at a storage product the Runner 2420-B3, the latest dual bay external 2.5" SSD/HDD RAID enclosure by RAIDON.

Our SSD review today examines the new PNY XLR8 Pro 6Gbps SSD and one might think that, after reviewing SSDs for six years and having somewhere in the area of 100TB of SSD storage in the office, receiving a 480GB SSD in the mail wouldn’t be exciting. In that, you would be wrong. As much as getting such an SSD in your hands would be exciting for anyone, the truth is that I race to the front each and every time a courier shows up. It’s in the blood I think. I truly love SSD technology.

Taking all of this into consideration, most users simply can't afford / stomach the pain to spend $800 for only 64 GB of storage capacity regardless of what kind of memory it uses. But, these same users also desire something that is quick and won't cause stuttering / pauses when used as an OS drive, a common problem with early generation SSDs. For those that fall into this category, OCZ created the Apex Series of solid state drives. Utilizing an internal RAID 0 configuration to help eliminate poor performance and stuttering, can the OCZ Apex live up to our expectations of what a midrange MLC-based SSD should deliver?

Following in the footprints of our Seagate 600 SSD Review last week, today we are examining the next in line of the Seagate SSD family, the 600 Pro. We had held back on our review of the 600 Pro as we wanted to see how it was going to place in the marketplace before tackling our angle of approach for this SSD. The number of e-mails we received that spoke to the 600 Pro a mainstream consumer SSD, positioning itself with the likes of the Samsung 840 Pro, OCZ Vector, and maybe even the likes of the Crucial M500, seems to be inevitable. After all, the 600 Pro appears to have much in common with some of the best SSDs we have reported on to date.

At the end of last year we published a review of the Western Digital WD RE 4TB, the first 4TB hard disk from Western Digital. This disk from the WD RE series was aimed at professional use for servers and storage solutions, and its sticker price reflected this. The consumer version has now come out, called the Caviar Black 4 TB.
