The LSI MegaRAID SATA+SAS 9260-8i RAID controller card is designed for to support up to eight-port 6Gb/s PCI Express SATA and SAS RAID for consumers looking for a way to secure data and to have speed. With data transfer rates of up to 6Gb/s per port, the MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i should be fast, but the question is how fast? Read on to see our results in RAID 0 and RAID 5.

If you thought you couldn't afford a decent SSD, you may just be wrong. Kingston's V200 series drives are aimed at the cost conscious consumer yet carry some nice performance numbers of 300MB/s reads and 190MB/s writes. With pricing well below $1 per usable GB, there's little reason to sit and wait on a spinning platter drive. Check out the specifics like the nicely appointed bundle in the article.

mSATA is about to blow up this year. This tiny form factor that was once an enabler of small netbook devices is starting to make its way into notebooks and even desktop systems. For the most part notebooks ship with a single 2.5", notebook standard HDD, but these days informed users want a SSD for their OS and a large HDD for their long term storage needs. To make this happen, manufacturers are turning to the mSATA standard so users can install a small, yet high speed SSD and still retain their 2.5" space for a higher capacity HDD.

OCZ improves Vector by treating it to 19nm Toggle2 flash, additional spare area, up-to-date accessory package and a new, lower price.

Intel has a reputation for producing some of the most reliable solid state drives on the market. They tend to lag behind the market slightly in terms of technology, as they spend more time ensuring that their SSDs offer the best performance and reliability. Today we are going to take a look at Intel's latest mainstream SSD offering, the 330 Series.

Back in February, we had our first look at the OCZ Vertex 3 drive featuring the newest rendition of the SandForce SF-2200 controllers. While only a beta drive, it put up some impressive numbers as well as being one of the few SATA 6Gbps consumer drives released this year. Instead of the 240 GB version, this time around OCZ sent us over a 120 GB drive and there's definitely a difference in performance between the two. Have a look at the article to get the details.

The Crucial 256GB m4 SSD comes now with an improved firmware and we now get read speeds up to 500MB/s sequential. Compared to the SandForce offerings, the m4 comes with a good price/performance ratio, so we could afford getting higher capacity SSDs. The tested model also comes with a Data Transfer Kit composed of hardware (USB to SATA adapter) and software (EZ GIG IV Cloning Software).

The RocketRAID 3510 is amazingly fast. For a mid range priced card it
provides excellent performance and although we only had two SSD drives to
test with, the card showed some excellent capabilities. In terms of features
the RocketRAID 3510 had all the goods we enjoyed with the RocketRAID 2680
and 4320 cards; an excellent web interface, easy to navigate system BIOS,
and was easy to setup.

Today we perform some drop tests on the Buffalo MiniStation Extreme to see if it can live up to the claims. Ever wondered if your drive can survive being dropped out of a 2 storey window?
