AMD have lifted their partner NDA today, and in this review we will be looking at the performance of two HIS HD7970′s in a Crossfire configuration. We already know that one of these cards has claimed the top ‘single GPU’ performance spot from Nvidia’s GTX580, so how will two of them handle a variety of DX10/11 game engines across both single screen and multi screen configurations?

If you are thinking of upgrading your system before Christmas then we have two highly modified graphics cards on test today from HIS which should prove interesting. The HIS HD 7950 IceQ is competitively priced at £239.99 and features a large custom cooler and out of the box overclocked speeds. The high end HIS HD 7970 IceQ X² Turbo is £100 more expensive and features a two fan cooler with highly overclocked core and memory speeds. The big question needs answered today … are they worth a purchase?

While XSReviews has had the chance to check out GPUs from many different companies, one of the ones we haven't worked with much is HIS, but recently they've decided we're worthy of their attention. With that in mind they've sent us a HD 4850 with their special IceQ4 branding. Let's see how it compares to some of our recently reviewed GPUs from other manufacturers.

The R7 240 iCooler Boost Clock 2GB video card from HIS features the lowest performance from the bunch and comes with the stock clocks. Despite the fact that the product is quite overclockable, we weren’t able to reach the performance of the regular R7 250.

The HIS R7 250 iCooler card is a low-end offering for people on a budget, supports the latest technologies and can deliver decent 3D performances at resolutions up to 1680x1050 (22’’ monitors) while keeping details between low and medium. If needed, the card supports pairing with another identical product for increasing the performances, without using a hardware Crossfire bridge.

HIS is ready with another entry-level card based on the R7 250X GPU and has built an improved cooling system for it in order to keep the temperatures at a decent level in all conditions. The card is not a speed demon, but for 75 Euros we can run plenty of titles with resolutions up to 1680x1050 while keeping the detail levels from medium to high.

Are you a gamer on a budget? Do you own a 22’’ monitor for playing the latest games or even a 24’’ and would not mind sacrificing some detail levels? Then the HIS R7 260X might be for you since it comes with a custom PCB and cooling system which allows raising the GPU/memory frequencies even further in order to gain some extra FPS.

The HIS R7 370 IceQ X2 OC 2GB Video Card has a core speed of 975MHz, but the boost clock is 1GHz & 2GB of GDDR5 256 bit memory is 5.6GHz DDR. It comes with 1024 shading units, 64 texture mapping units, 16 texture units and 32 raster operations, the pixel fillrate is 31.2 Gpixels/s, the texture fillrate is 62.4 GTexels/s, Floating-point performance is 1,997 GFLOPS and the memory bandwidth is 179 GB/s

The new R9 270X implementation from HIS comes with a custom PCB, an award-winning cooling system which is very efficient while keeping the noise down and is also pre-overclocked. The card trades punches with the GTX 760 and succeeds to surpass it in some games which are heavily AMD optimized.

HIS has made available to the market the latest R9 280X from AMD in two revisions quite quickly, which are fitted with the efficient IceQ X2 two-slot cooling system. The HIS Radeon R9 280X IceQ X2 Turbo Boost card is available online for an affordable price and comes with a factory overclock of 50Mhz over the stock version; the VRM section has been also beefed up in order to be able to reach higher GPU frequencies.
