We got our hands on a second NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics card, so we can see how it performs in 2-way SLI! The only thing better than one GeForce GTX 680 is running two of them together right? The focus of this article will be from the single monitor point of view, so we'll be bringing you performance numbers at 2560x1600, 1920x1080 and 1280x1024 to show you how this setup performs.

At the end of the day we saw an overall performance increase of 63% when going from a single GeForce GTX 680 Surround to a 2-way SLI Surround multi-monitor setup from the seven game titles we tested. This is a nice performance gain and it did make for an overall better gaming experience at a resolution of 5760x1080

The GTX 680 is here, and here's aguide to explain the nitty gritty details about it.

Today we take a detailed look at gaming performance of the GTX 680 in titles such as Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 with single screen and surround gaming as well as Stereoscopic 3D testing. Added to that is GPU computing and media playback performance along with thermal, power, noise and overclocking results. Want to see how the GTX 680 does against the 7970 at its maximum overclock, or the GTX 580 OC 3GB we have that sorted too...

Earlier today we bought you a review on the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 680 2GB, and for all our personal issues with NVIDIA, we made it pretty clear that this is an absolutely awesome video card from the green team that offers some serious power.
Since that went live we've been hard at work overclocking the new model to see just how much performance we could get out of it. To do that there's only one program we used, and that's of course MSI Afterburner which has always served us extremely well when it comes to GPU overclocking.

This industry, like every other industry loves drama. As if we didn't create enough this week with our slew of Ivy Bridge content that saw us test the Intel Core i5 3570K and Intel Core i7 3770K . If that wasn't enough we checked out the latest G.Skill RAM and achieved some massive overclocking performance. To finally round it all off we then took the time to overclock both processors to see how that went.
Since NVIDIA sent us nothing on the GTX 680 codenamed "Kepler" - no press deck, no whitepaper, no conference call information, no sample, no NDA date - absolutely nothing - we're kind of winging it here. Something we don't really like to do. But when I woke up this morning again with no information from NVIDIA, I was just over it and decided to knock this review over straight away as clearly we weren't going to hear anything from them. How is that for professionalism? (Ed: Shocking!)

NVIDIA Have enjoyed the fruits of their labors with the recent launch of Kepler, their latest ultra-efficient desktop GPU architecture. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 seized the crown for graphics performance, but also has a price tag fit for kings. Now NVIDIA are back to address the needs of performance gamers with GeForce GTX 670, using the same GK104 GPU found in GTX 680 along with 2GB of GDDR5 memory running at the same clock speeds. For around $399 the GeForce GTX 670 matches price to the AMD Radeon HD 7950, yet performs to the level of Radeon HD 7970. In this article Benchmark Reviews tests the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 video card against the leading competition, including the GeForce GTX 570 that it replaces.

The GeForce GTX 670 is an average of 10.1 percent slower than the GeForce GTX 680 according to our benchmarks. The price is also about 22 percent lower, however, and you don't need to be a math wiz to realise that the price/performance ratio of the GTX 670 is better than that of the GTX 680.
The most interesting difference is with the similarly priced Radeon HD 7950. Nvidia's GTX 670 performs an average of 14.9 percent better than AMD's card. While you can find some good discounts for AMDs card, at an equal price the Nvidia card gives you more bang for your buck.
In areas other than performance it's a draw. Energy consumption is almost the same and both feature PCI-Express 3.0, support three monitors on one card, an integrated video encoder, excellent video decoder and DirectX 11.1.
With one exception, the GeForce GTX 670 is powerful enough to run games in Full HD on max settings and 4x FSAA. If you plan on using three monitors, then you do need to get a second card to get good frame rates. SLI works fine with the GTX 670. Triple SLI encountered too many compatibility issues for us to be able to recommend it.

We bench the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 670 video card well ahead of launch date. We really don't need to say much more than that. So come and check it out!
