Just this past week I was away on vacation, I came back to a stack of boxes with most of them being video cards. This time, most of them are a new model from Nvidia. Just like with other big launches, the Nvidia GTX 780 was quickly followed up by the GTX 770. To continue filling in gaps in their product line that the GTX 780 launch created Nvidia is launching the GTX 760 that will replace the GTX 660 Ti. Today we are going to take a look at the new GTX 760 and see what it is all about as well as seeing what it is capable in our test suite. The GTX 780 and GTX 770’s were both impressive, I am very curious to see what they will be following them up with.
NVidia introduced SLI as a scalable way to increase video performance and it does so by adding more GPUs to an existing system. Depending on the GPU you can link up to four of them together with the sweet spot resting somewhere between two and three.
Nvidia promised the GeForce GTX 660 Ti to be a graphics card that is ideally suited to gamers who play on a single full hd screen. After our extensive tests, we have to agree. With the exception of Metro 2033 all games we tested with are eminently playable at full hd resolution using high quality settings. Often the best possible settings combined with 4x AA still resulted in playable frame rates. If you want sufficient performance in full hd under any circumstance at any setting, you still have to dig deeper into your wallet for a card like the GTX 680. If you don't mind to occasionally turn down the settings just a little, the GTX 660 Ti is an excellent choice.
The GTX 650 Ti is available in two models, 1GB or 2GB, and today we have a selection of overclocked 2GB models on our test bench. We will be testing the 2GB Overclocked GTX 650 Ti’s against the comparable Radeon in a selection of games including Borderlands 2, Dishonored and Battlefield 3.
