Over the past day we have taken a look in detail at NVIDIAs new GTX 560 TI. Aspects which have been covered include single card performance, SLI, stereoscopic 3D, Blu-Ray playback, GPU computing and PhysX amongst other things. As always though we like to end our launch coverage with a look in more detail at overclocked performance...

If you’re remotely interested in computers, you’ll know who AMD are. It’s no surprise when you consider they’ve been around since 1969(!), so they need no introduction. Odds are that you’ll also be familiar with the Radeon brand of graphics cards, so today’s review product and company should be known to everyone.

Sapphire's Radeon HD 6950 has proven to be an excellent overall product. With excellent build quality and a robust accessory hardware kit, it is still priced lower than a lot of the competition to date. Also adding in that Sapphire is still AMD's #1 seller, I'd be a fool to recommend anything but to consider this card if the HD 6950 is an option that you are itching to spend you money on in the near future.

We've already been amazed with what the GTX 560 Ti offers us when we looked at the GIGABYTE version which falls into the SOC series from the company. Now it's time to see what MSI can do with the model and while this one might not fall into that higher end HAWK series that we've grown to love, it does carry with it both an OC and the Twin Frozr II cooler.

Today we have the HIS Radeon 6970 Turbo on our test bench and have paired it with an overclocked Core i7-980X to see how well it performs against the standard 6970 and GTX 570 in a selection of real world gaming tests, media playback, stereoscopic 3D and GPU computing.

One of the more impressive looking enhanced 6950s is the PowerColor PCS++ model and today we have one of those on our test bench. With an enhanced cooler and significantly increased specifications over the standard 6950 we will be putting it up against the GTX 570 and Radeon 6970 to see if it can compete with those, more expensive models.

Another GTX 560 Ti arrives and in this case it's from Gainward. Like the other two we've looked at, it carries with it the two things we love; an overclock and a new cooler. This also won't be the last GTX 560 Ti we look at, because like the GTX 460 when it was released, companies are hitting the model hard and fast.

History always repeats itself, and NVIDIA is hoping for a repeat performance with their new GTX 560 Ti video card. With performance per mm2 and per watt numbers that put the first Fermi chips to shame, the GTX 460 deserves all the success it has enjoyed. Now, they've applied the same tweaks to the GF104 GPU that brought the high-end Fermi cards back from the dead, and we have the new GF114 in place to do battle in the upper mid-market. MSI is also repeating the same steps they used with the GTX 460 to capture the interest of graphics overclocking enthusiasts. Their Twin Frozr II design offered a massive upgrade in performance compared to the stock cooling scheme, and it helped achieve a world record of 1.0 GHz on air cooling for the GTX 460. Fast forward six months and MSI has launched an upgraded GTX 560 Ti video card at the same time that the reference design is hitting the market. The MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC model offers up a modest 7! % factory overclock, but I'm guessing there's more where that came from. Benchmark Reviews takes full advantage of MSI's hardware upgrade, as we explore the full potential of NVIDIA's latest midrange marvel on our test bed.
