Today though NVIDIA is looking to fill a bit of a gap in the middle of their product stack with a new model, the GeForce GTX 650Ti Boost and on our test bench we have an overclocked model. Well be putting it through a selection of the latest games, including Crysis 3, Tomb Raider and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.

We take a look at our first retail GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost in the form of an offering from Palit.

Already impressed with what a single GTX 560 Ti is able to offer, it seemed like it was time to see what two of them did for us. For a long time we've known SLI scaling has been excellent and the GTX 460 in SLI was just an absolute beast of a combination, as you had two cards that offered more performance than a single GTX 480, while at the same time offering it at a cheaper price.

With the GTX 460 just around the corner it's great to see that companies are still able to put some time aside to fix some of the earlier issues we have had with the GTX 470 and GTX 480. The good news is that it doesn't seem like companies are going to sleep once they've finished with the GTX 470 with most saying that they're already working on the GTX 480 and while most have said we won't see this model pre-Computex, we've got our fingers crossed that we'll see some early revisions of the models there.

From the word go, there's been strong talk that the GTX 460 is an overclocking master. Considering the fact that Palit offered us a core 125MHz over the stock one, we're going to believe those rumors. Let's be honest, though; companies never push a card as hard as it can go, so while we're extremely impressed with what Palit has done we're sure there's going to be more room under the hood of this 1GB variant of the GTX 460.

The GTX 460 models are coming in thick and fast with the next one to go on the chopping block that is the TweakTown testbed being a version from Palit. This seems to be a new series from Palit. While we're familiar with the Sonic series which tend to revolve around the card being overclocked and the Super series letting us know the card would be carrying more memory, we're not too sure about the Sonic Platinum one that we're looking at today.

Because of the various factors working against desktop graphics, I'd say that now is the time for manufacturers to stop building a bigger mousetrap, and instead build it better. That's what Palit does, and their approach to discreet graphics products usually follows the rule of function before fashion. In this case, it's function and realistic performance needs before fashion and marketing hype. Sure, NVIDIA would lover for you to believe that SLI is necessary to play the newest video games, but oddly enough the nearly all new games still work fairly well with a single three-generation old video card. So where's the sweet spot? The PaLiT GeForce GTX 260 Sonic 216 SP is factory overclocked to give gamers the ultimate gaming and home entertaining experience. With the latest 55nm GPU powering this NVIDIA GeForce GTX Core 216 graphics card it should be interesting to see the power savings and temperature decrease versus a standard 65nm version of the same card.

Today NVIDIA launched their GeForce GTS 450 and earlier we took a look at how a few models performed in a single card configuration. The results were very positive however one of the main benefits of a £100/$120 card is that combining two is something which is easily affordable for most people. With this in mind we have taken another model, the Palit Sonic Platinum, and combined two in SLI
