The time has come for the GeForce GTX 470 series to take on a new face for high speed gaming. These cards have sat in the shadow of the GTX 480, with little respect, for far too long. All of that is about to change with the introduction of the new Gigabyte GTX 470 SOC Edition video card.

You've got to feel a little bad for some of these NVIDIA partners; you have to wonder how much they knew about the GTX 580. We also wonder what's going to happen with the GTX 480. One would assume that it's going to hang around for a bit as companies like GIGABYTE has thrown a bit of R&D into the creation of the beast we're looking at today, but everything's a little up in the air at the moment.

I've been waiting weeks for a GTX 480 to arrive here at TweakTown and it's nice to see it's finally come in the form of a retail version thanks to GIGABYTE. The chances are that most people have probably made up their mind on what they think of the GTX 400 series, but let's have a look at a retail version and see how it compares against some of the top cards from ATI along with the GTX 470.

So, you like NVIDIA and you've bought yourself a GTX 480; you're someone that doesn't mind splashing a bit of money around so you're thinking about a dedicated PhysX card. You're not going to spend GTX 470 or GTX 480 money on a dedicated PhysX card. Instead something like a second hand GTX 2XX series could be a goer.

It is a fact that most of us PC hardware enthusiasts are so concerned with what is happening at the high end of the graphics card market, that lower end cards like the GTX550 get forgotten among the more outrageously powerful, and sometimes outrageously expensive, cards out there. However, the lower end cards are what sell the best to the mainstream users who want to game without spending £200 on a top end card, but are clever enough not to opt for a console! More importantly though, the lower power found in these cards give manufacturers such as GIGABYTE the ability to do some amazing things with them, such as silent cooling and high overclocks. This is exactly what a buyer is looking for and appears to be exactly what GIGABYTE is offering- we will see how it does this later on.

When I mention the British Phonographic Industry, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Penthouse Magazine? Playboy UK? Well, my advice to you is, let's get your head out of the gutter, because what we are talking about here is the British Phonographic Industry, not the British Pornographic Industry. (On the other hand, it is interesting to point out most people get it wrong at first glance, too.) With that in mind, let me introduce to you the product we are reviewing today. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 1GB OC, as its name suggests, is based off one of NVIDIA's latest GPU releases, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560. Wait a second. Hasn't the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 been around since January? Fair enough, but like when we have mentioned British Phonographic Industry earlier, it is one of those things you can easily misread -- the one you are thinking about is probably the GTX 560 Ti. You know, the Titanium version, with more stream processors and texture units, combined with a marginally higher clock speed. The GV-N56GOC-1GI is based off the non-Ti version with a slight overclock to 830MHz core, 1660MHz shader, and 1002MHz memory; followed by a stream-texture-ROP configuration count of 336-56-32, respectively. Situated in the extremely competitive $200 MSRP market, and priced slightly below that at press time, how well does the usual Gigabyte approach of taking a standard GPU, install it on a custom PCB full of high quality components, slap on a custom cooler on top (Or under, depending on your perspective), fare in this ultra competitive market? Read on to find out what we have found!

Last month Gigabyte introduced us to their new GeForce GTX 560 OC Video Card. It featured their Windforce cooler that actually has two 100 mm fans that are inverted to avoid air turbulance that causes most video cards to be loud. How did the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 OC Video Card stand up to our rigid testing? Read on to find out. It's all in here.

The GTX 560 Ti ultimately has two jobs to do; one is to help make sure that NVIDIA offer a broad range of pricing options for people wanting to get into the GTX 500 series, while the other is to lay the smack down on AMD. Priced under $250, the model clearly sits well with the GTX 570 costing $100 more, and the GTX 580 costing another $150 more on top of the GTX 570 for a price tag that's pretty much double of the GTX 560.

Although I have been in Canada since I was one and half years old, I have always been particularly proud of my Hong Kong heritage. Okay, I will be realistic here. Although my grandparents, my parents, and myself were all born in this wonderful city in the East, I neither look nor act fobby; if you have no idea what that means, look it up -- you are on the internet, haha. But at the very least, I can read and write Chinese, and speak Cantonese quite fluently -- so to touch on the crucial point of this discussion, all this means is I can watch all my favorite Hong Kong dramas on TV without any problem. A while ago, a police series titled "The Mysteries of Love" was on, and the main male character of the story is called Professor King. Now Professor King is quite the man. He has a PhD in Physics, yet he knows everything from criminal psychology to electrical engineering. He has received numerous prestigious awards for his research, yet he is always modest. He comes from an upper class family, yet he treats everyone equally. And the best part of it all? He is very good looking, yet he is only interested in one girl from the beginning to the end; with the girl being the average type everyone can relate to. How can such an ideal man exist in this world? Well, other than to appeal to all the female audience members, of course he doesn't exist. But before you start laughing at all the girls and their wonderful fantasies, I think everyone likes to dream about stuff that combines the best of every world. For example, as a silent PC enthusiast, but a PC enthusiast nonetheless, I am always after a computer that is not only matchless in performance, but also unparalleled in silence. And with any performance computer, the video card is an absolutely crucial component. So to put some substance into our review today, is there such thing as a graphics card that has all the processing power, emits minimal amount of noise, and still does not overheat? With Gigabyte's GeForce GTX 570 1280MB SOC here at APH Networks today, let's see if this is the Professor King of video cards!
