You know the words you’re reading right now? You’re seeing them thanks to your computer’s graphics card. The game you just played? Yeah, that was the graphics card too, big guy. Without your computer’s graphics card, your monitor is as useful as a can of baked beans for viewing things.

Today we’ll be reviewing the PowerColor Devil R9 270X. As you may expect, the PowerColor Devil R9 270X is quite a special variant of the R9 270X as it comes with a host of features catering to the enthusiast crowd. Over the last few months we've seen MSI do some wonderful things to the GTX 580, releasing the model into its Lightning series and then during Computex re-releasing the GTX 580 in 3GB form also under the Lightning series; but in this case it was the Lightning Xtreme Edition. Someone else has done something with the GTX 580, but I can't really remember who; it's probably got something to do with the fact we haven't seen it.

The HD6950 has been a big seller for AMD over the last couple of months, thanks to a combination of solid pricing and high levels of performance. When the enthusiast audience learned that the HD6950 could be easily modded into a HD6970, sales figures increased even more. Powercolor have capitalised on this easy software modification by releasing the HD6950 PCS++, a card which comes with both a HD6950 and HD6970 bios.

The higher the resolution and the higher the quality settings, the more you will benefit from an SLI configuration. For example, the GTX 700 cards in SLI only scale an average of 55%, but in 5760x1080 with maximum settings the average is between 68% and 75%, depending on the card. A third card doesn't add as much as a second card does, and is typically more prone to compatibility issues than two cards.

Following our recent review on the 7790 from Sapphire, we also have a couple of cards from Club3D but as a change to the normal routine of looking at a single card first then looking at how two of their cards perform together, I've decided to see how far the 7790 will go when taken to the max, which in this case is a two way configuration.

The Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 780 truly is an impressive card, both in terms of performance and design. Thanks to the HerculeZ X3 Ultra cooler, Inno3D has been able to significantly overclock the GeForce GTX 780, putting the performance on the level of the GeForce GTX Titan. And this for a card that supposed to be 250 to 300 euros cheaper than a real Titan. A great deal, in other words.
