Der Nvidia-Themenabend im Forum von PCGH Extreme lief erfolgreich über die Bühne. Am 9.12. konnten interessierte PCGH-Leser Fragen an Lars Weinand, Sr. Technical Marketing Manager (EMEA) bei Nvidia, stellen - und diese Möglichkeit wurde auch ausgiebig genutzt. Über 100 Threads wurden eröffnet, fast 700 Beiträge wurden erstellt. Im Nachgang hatte sich Nvidia bereit erklärt, noch offene Fragen, die beispielsweise im Aufruf zum Themenabend gestellt wurden, zu beantworten. Die Antworten liegen nun vor. Danke an Nvidia dafür, dass nun der Themenabend eine Abrundung findet.

Über AMDs DualChip-Projekt Radeon HD 6990 gab es in den letzten Tagen und mit dem Start der CeBIT eine zunehmende Informationslage, nun liegt seitens der türkischen Webseite Donanim Haber die komplette AMD-Präsentation zu dieser Karte vor und zeigt alle deren Daten auf. Dabei überrascht AMD mit einer deutlich kräftiger als bisher angenommen ausgefallenen Karte: Es werden zwei unbeschnittene RV970/Cayman-Chips mit ergo insgesamt 3072 Shader- und 192 Textureneinheiten an zwei 256 Bit DDR breiten Speicherinterfaces samt zweimal 2048 MB GDDR5-Speicher verbaut. Die Taktraten der Radeon HD 6990 liegen zudem mit 830/2500 MHz in absoluter Reichwerte der 880/2750 MHz der SingleChip-Lösung Radeon HD 6970. Damit wird die Radeon HD 6990 ein gehöriges Performanceplus gegenüber der Radeon HD 6970 einfahren und dürfte weit über (unseren) Vorab-Prognosen liegen.
Last week we had some hands on time with the latest AMD GHZ HD7970. At the end of the day it left us feeling distinctly uninspired. There was no doubt the card was fast, but AMD sadly adopted their ill equipped, painfully loud cooling solution with tiny, single red fan.

Getting put through its paces today is the Inno3d iChiLL Black Edition GTX 680, with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. It is factory overclocked to 1120 Mhz, and has an aftermarket hybrid liquid / air cooler attached. The cooler itself is manufactured by Asetek, branded by Arctic, and then partnered with the inno3d card. Claiming to be virtually silent whilst many times more efficient than the reference cooler. If all goes well this card should be quite the performer. Follow us through the review as we benchmark, overclock, and generally beat the card into submission to reach our conclusion.
Decent gaming on a budget, is it possible? Maybe, maybe not, but companies are trying to make it a reality for us. Legit Reviews was down in Texas this weekend for the FX GamExperience and noticed that ASUS was showing off their upcoming Radeon HD 7970 DirectCU II video card! The card left a very good impression in general. Even if it was sometimes outperformed by competing products, we must admit that HD 4770 is faster than 9800 GT in most cases. This card defeats HD 4850 in those tests, where fillrate plays an important role (HD 4770 offers higher fillrates owing to a very high GPU clock rate).
