With 7950 graphics cards being released into the market, we take a look at what Sapphire have to offer with a dual fan and 100MHz overclock.

The new Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition, which is being released today, is a mainstream video card based on the latest graphics architecture from AMD, dubbed "Graphics Core Next" or simply "GCN," which supports the new PCI Express 3.0 connection and the latest DirectX version (11.1).

While we unfortunately missed the HD 7700 series launch, the last thing sitting in my testbed before getting shipped off to the emergency department was a pair of Radeon HD 7950 video cards from Sapphire that we looked at a few weeks ago.
Before I pulled out the cards, though, I wanted to head in to Afterburner, clock both cards a bit and see just what kind of performance we could get out of the CrossFire setup and see how it compares to some of the other setups we've looked at recently. Because we've already looked at the Sapphire card in good detail, we won't be looking at the card and or the package, instead we'll be getting straight into the testbed side of things. At the same time we'll also cover the overclock we managed to achieve via Afterburner.

We've mentioned a lot about our thoughts on the HD 7700 series as a whole along with the general thought process on each model and like we've said every time, while AMD has the HD 6800 series at a similar price point, the HD 7700 series continues to lose its shine as it sits slower.
The HD 7800 series and HD 7900 series on the other hand don't have any competition within their own camp giving us a price point from AMD that isn't offered at the moment. So far we've seen the HD 7850 hits that $249 price tag perfectly. Now we want to find out if the extra $100 associated with the HD 7870 is worth the jump up.

Today, though, we get to move away from the reference card design and see what's going on with our first retail HD 7870 in the form of the PowerColor PCS+ HD 7870 GHz OC Edition 2GB. We haven't seen much from PowerColor in the form of the PCS+ series, but it's always one that has taken my eye.
What's making these new cooling solutions so much more attractive as well is the fact that the new 28nm GPU on the HD 7000 series runs so cool that the latest coolers are seeing some awesome performance on the new models. We've got our fingers crossed that the PCS+ cooler that PowerColor has opted for today follows the trend of strong cooling.

Nvidias GeForce GTX 680 mit der überarbeiteten Kepler-Architektur wagt den ersten Schritt und nimmt sich gleich AMDs aktuelles Flaggschiff, die Radeon HD 7970, vor.

The latest card to get the IceQ treatment from the team over at HIS comes in the form of the HD 7870 IceQ Turbo. When it comes to HIS cards, this is a model that carries our two favorite words. "IceQ" that lets us know we're dealing with a new cooler and "Turbo" which lets us know we're dealing with a pre-overclocked card.
While we'll get into more details on the overclock soon, because the Turbo clock on offer from the HIS card was similar to that of the PowerColor PCS+ HD 7870 we've just looked at, we figured we'd fire up some overclocking software and see how the new HD 7870 goes in the overclocking department; an area we haven't looked in yet.

The other day we checked out the MSI HD 7970 Lightning 3GB and in typical MSI Lightning fashion we found ourselves really impressed with what was on offer. Strong overclocking performance, a good out of the box overclock, awesome cooler and just a huge amount of features make it a stand out video card.
We figured what's better than a single HD 7970 Lightning 3GB overclocked, though? Two MSI HD 7970 Lighting 3GB video cards overclocked and in CrossFire mode! So that's exactly what we did - we organized another MSI HD 7970 Lightning 3GB, paired it with the one we had and then proceeded to overclock them both in CrossFire. Much fun prevailed, of course.

Decent gaming on a budget, is it possible? Maybe, maybe not, but companies are trying to make it a reality for us. Not everyone can afford several hundred dollars to pay for the latest and greatest video card on the market and that would be the new 7000 series from AMD that can easily cost $500 to $700 is some cases. Thankfully they’ve come out with other versions of the card meant to provide performance but not break your budget. Today for review I have one such card from HIS Digital, the Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition which of course features Direct X 11 for the best look in games and everything you do. I’ve put it up against some other cards I’ve got on hand for comparison, so read on to see how the 7770 stands up to the competition.
