nVidia launched DX11 a full 6 months behind AMD's Radeon 5000 series and it's been playing catch-up ever since. Today we are looking at the GT430, the latest and lowest priced model in the new Fermi range. It will be nVidia's first Fermi fired into the huge sub-£100 market. Winning will be everything here, so just how many sales can nVidia hope to capture with the GT430? KitGuru investigates.

The new Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition, which is being released today, is a mainstream video card based on the latest graphics architecture from AMD, dubbed "Graphics Core Next" or simply "GCN," which supports the new PCI Express 3.0 connection and the latest DirectX version (11.1).

The ASUS GTX 560Ti comes with a factory overclock from 822MHz to 830MHz, and while this seems to be a key marketing point from ASUS, it is a minor increase. However, ASUS includes an application to overclock the card more on your own, and my efforts resulted in almost a 120MHz increase in GPU speed. This simple overclock provided a nice boost in performance.

We may not see many important and up to date (at least in graphics) game titles lately (many are just console ports) but that doesn't keep the two leading graphics cards manufacturers (AMD/NVIDIA) from keeping the competition alive and kicking by introducing new models every now few months. Lately we've checked some of the brand new Radeon HD 7xxx series by AMD so it was time to jump into the opposite camp and see what the latest GeForce GTX 6xx cards are all about. Gainward is amongst the only exclusive NVIDIA partners and really needs no introductions since it's the company behind some of the best non-reference (custom) NVIDIA card designs (offering factory overclocking, low noise levels and improved cooling) including the Golden Sample and Phantom line. The first of their GTX 6xx line to reach our test bed is the latest Gainward GeForce GTX 670 Phantom 2GB model.

The HIS HD 7750 iCooler 1GB is a low-end budget graphics card which has proved to have low wattage, low temperatures and produces a decent overclock to achieve frame rates not too far away from a HD 7770...

NVIDIA has been been slowing been trickling out GeForce 400 series graphics cards since April 2010 when the company first launched the GeForce GTX 480. Today, NVIDIA is releasing another new DX11 graphics card, but this time around it is an entry level card with an MSRP of just $79.99. This is a very popular price point for video cards and one where NVIDIA has been lacking a DX11 offering for nearly eight months now as the ATI Radeon HD 5500 series has had no direct competition.

HIS are famous for performance products and today, as AMD releases the Radeon HD 6900 series they were quick to release their new range of products. To see what this second generation graphics processor is really capable of, we tested a pair of the Radeon HD 6970 cards in CrossFireX formation as well as the usual array of stand alone tests.
