It's been a while since we've seen anything from Gainward and the main reason for that is it had been a while since we'd seen anything from NVIDIA. Now that NVIDIA have some new models and companies have had the chance to attack them with some new cooling and what not, it's time to see what some of the NVIDIA only partners are capable of.

Over the past few months I've had a few mid range cards rock up and with high end launches and all those fun things I haven't actually taken the time to look at some of these mid range models. Since we haven't looked at a mid range model since our last testbed upgrade, we didn't really have anything to compare them against.

The XFX Radeon HD 5830 video card features 1120 stream processors, 1GB of GDDR5 memory, a custom GPU cooler and a price tag of under $240. If you are looking to spend under $250 on a DirectX 11 graphics card that fully supports ATI Eyefinity then you'll need to take a look at this one and see how it performs to other video cards like a couple different NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465's for starters.

The HIS HD5550 Silence 1GB Graphics card is fully Direct X 11 compliant and also supports EyeFinity Technology while only demanding a total of 40w under load. This card on test today is a 1300mhz DDR3 version which should be interesting as we have only tested 800mhz DDR2 versions in the past. We are one of the first sites to get a look at the GDDR3 version of this card.

For this review I will be looking at a product that comes from a very well known name from the world of graphics cards, the company is Power Color and the product of theirs I will be looking at is one of their lower range cards the PCS+ Radeon HD5550.

Overall, there isn't a whole lot I can hold against the ENGT240. It's relatively cheap, easy on power, and surprisingly is a lot more powerful than I first thought while unboxing this card for this review. Add in the overclocking potential and you have a good investment if DX11 gaming is not on your radar at this time.

Having had a look again recently at some mid range ATI cards, it's time to have a look at another. In this case it's the HD 5670 from AXLE. Sitting between the HD 5570 and HD 5750, the model was designed for people who don't quite need the power on offer from the HD 5700 series, but need a little more than the HD 5500.

We've had a look at the GTX 465 in a decent amount of detail. We've covered it from stock to overclock and single to SLI. The mid range nature of the card means that companies are going to mix it up more so than some of the higher end models, too.
