We reviewed the reference AMD HD7970 flagship card in December last year and we were suitably impressed. A few weeks later XFX sent us their XFX R7970 Double Dissipation graphics card which featured a custom cooling solution. Today we look at the latest version of the card from partner VTX3D – The ‘HD7970 X Edition’ is the first HD7970 we have reviewed which features not only a modified cooler, but overclocked core clock and memory speeds. Is this good enough to get the Kitguru seal of approval?

The HD 7870 DEVIL is not the spawn of arcane knowledge and the occult unlike the first PowerColor DEVIL video card. The HD 7870 DEVIL instead is hewn from the familiar Pitcairn XT GPU as if it is just like any other HD 7870 but upon closer inspection, it is more than that. Draped in a cold black and blood red shroud, the PowerColor HD 7870 DEVIL has 1100MHz core clock with 1250MHz memory clock that can be pushed significantly further with additional voltage without burning out due to an unholy trinity of guardian fans that ensure its survival. The PowerColor HD 7870 DEVIL can blend in and mate with other HD 7870 to increase its power further through CrossFire breeding. Should the the HD 7870 DEVIL fail at any time within 2-years of existence, PowerColor will re-spawn an identical HD 7870 DEVIL to take its place.

Today we are looking at Zotac’s take on the new Nvidia GTX560, a card which should NOT be confused with the GTX560 ‘Ti’. The Ti was released at the start of the year and is a higher end part targeting a slightly different market. Nvidia have released the latest GTX560 to fill a void in the mid range where AMD are currently very strong. This card is set to deliver the final death blow to the previous generation GTX460, which was one of the best cards Nvidia have ever released.

The other day we checked out the MSI HD 7970 Lightning 3GB and in typical MSI Lightning fashion we found ourselves really impressed with what was on offer. Strong overclocking performance, a good out of the box overclock, awesome cooler and just a huge amount of features make it a stand out video card.
We figured what's better than a single HD 7970 Lightning 3GB overclocked, though? Two MSI HD 7970 Lighting 3GB video cards overclocked and in CrossFire mode! So that's exactly what we did - we organized another MSI HD 7970 Lightning 3GB, paired it with the one we had and then proceeded to overclock them both in CrossFire. Much fun prevailed, of course.

Let’s analyze the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 (GV-N750OC-1GI), a mainstream video card with 1 GiB of GDDR5 memory and a small factory overclock that competes with the AMD Radeon R7 260.
