The SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB OC Vapor-X Edition has a core clock speed of 950 MHz and 3GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 5000MHz (effective). We put this custom card to the test to see how it performs in the games and how well it can overclock. With a healthy factory overclock and the Vapor-X cooler this card should perform well, but you never know unless you try it out!

While we unfortunately missed the HD 7700 series launch, the last thing sitting in my testbed before getting shipped off to the emergency department was a pair of Radeon HD 7950 video cards from Sapphire that we looked at a few weeks ago.
Before I pulled out the cards, though, I wanted to head in to Afterburner, clock both cards a bit and see just what kind of performance we could get out of the CrossFire setup and see how it compares to some of the other setups we've looked at recently. Because we've already looked at the Sapphire card in good detail, we won't be looking at the card and or the package, instead we'll be getting straight into the testbed side of things. At the same time we'll also cover the overclock we managed to achieve via Afterburner.

We all know that the 7900 series can be pushed. We put it to the test to see how far it can be pushed.

Sapphire have taken the popularRadeon 7950 and given it an overclock, Dual-X cooler andfleX treatment all in one. Crazy huh?

With 7950 graphics cards being released into the market, we take a look at what Sapphire have to offer with a dual fan and 100MHz overclock.

The Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X 3GB video card is the fastest card offered by Sapphire and it shows just how much performance you can get from AMD's top of the line GPU. The card is impressive, but it better be for $449.99 shipped after rebate. For this kind of money it better perform exceptionally well and for the most part the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X did just that. After looking at all the performance tests that we completed the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 Vapor-X was significantly faster than the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X, but was basically even with the factory overclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 video card that we compared it against...

Today we grab a third card and see what happens when we move to a three way CrossFireX setup. Since we've already looked at the Sapphire card in full detail in our CrossFire review mentioned above, we'll be getting into the performance side of things fairly quickly today.
The first thing we need to do is just take a quick look at our testbed, if you've been following our HD 7970 series of content, though, you shouldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Once we've done that we'll move onto the performance of the setup and see how it compares to other HD 7970s we've looked at.

After that we moved onto the HIS HD 7970 3GB and took the time to overclock it to see just what kind of potential was on offer from the brand new model. Today the Sapphire HD 7970 3GB showed up and it was time to see what happens when we finally put together a pair of these new cards and see what kind of performance we're able to get out of the new models when in CrossFire.
As always, before we get into the performance side of things, we've got to take a closer look at the box and the package before we take a closer look at the card itself. Once we've done that we'll quickly cover the specifications and make sure CrossFire is working before we get into the testbed side of things and of course check out the performance.

We're getting to that point where's it's been long enough after the launch of a new high-end video card model that we start to see companies mixing it up a bit and while XFX came out the gate early with the custom cooled Black Edition Double Dissipation model, we haven't seen anyone else do anything. Well, that's till today!
Today we're looking at the brand new Sapphire HD 7970 Dual-X 3GB OC which at the time of writing hasn't even shown up on the Sapphire website yet. That gives you an idea of just how new the model is and just how quickly we're able to get ahold of it thanks to being based out of Taiwan now.
