The GTX 560 Ti is a killer card and at launch we saw some companies do some fantastic things with the model when it came to overclocks. This is great for you the consumer, but for AMD and its partners, not so great. The HD 6950 offers great performance, but with 2GB of GDDR5 the price of the card is higher than the GTX 560 Ti which carries with it only 1GB of GDDR5. Personally, I thought it was a mistake for AMD to push 2GB models of the card, as it means prices are higher and if the past has told us anything, it brings little gains when compared to its 1GB counterparts.

AMD released the 6950 graphics card quite some time ago, but it's still one of the best selling cards around as it gives customers great performance for a reasonable price. From time to time, some partners bundle games or certain software with their cards to give something extra to their buyers.

The AMD Radeon 6950 is a card which has been available for nearly 7 months but that doesn't seem to be stopping manufacturers from tweaking the design to suit their needs and one of the latest to do so (again) is Sapphire. In the form of a custom PCB, custom cooler model with a bundle designed to please even the most demanding consumers we have the Sapphire Radeon 6950 DiRT 3 Edition.

Like the previous Dirt game, Dirt 2, the latest iteration from Codemasters, Dirt 3, is another big release for AMD. While maybe not quite as big as the second one which saw the implementation of DirectX 11, one would argue that this one could be even bigger because of the rave reviews the game has received, making it not only a game that looks good, but also a game that's good to play.

Just the other day I talked about how the video card market has been quiet lately and all of a sudden it seems we have a surge of video cards from companies. The latest card to arrive is from Sapphire and comes in as part of the much loved TOXIC series which has served us well in the past.

Just recently we were given some exciting news. We found out that it was possible to flash the HD 6950 with a HD 6970 BIOS and in turn make your $299 HD 6950 a $369 HD 6970, and really we don't have to tell you how cool that would be.

I can honestly say I wasn't 100% sure we would see this day, this year. Twelve months ago it was all about the GTX 480 which at this stage was already delayed by a month. Jump forward twelve months and the HD 6900 series which was due to come out this time last month wasn't here.

Graphics cards are a funny thing, because we end up with AMD and Nvidia constantly competing and releasing new models of GPU's left right and centre and then suddenly we see nothing. The only products that end up being released are revamped versions of older cards, but that's not to say they aren't any good, as that couldn't be further from the truth.

So it's time; you've decided to take the plunge and purchase an Eyefinity setup. You've seen the videos, you've read the testimonials, and you're ready to strip the horse blinders off of your virtual alter ego. One major question remains though: how much of a beast are you going to need to drive this rig? Today we'll be looking at the Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5 Dual Fan from Sapphire, an unorthodox take on AMD's most potent single-GPU video card design to date.
