The MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC video card ships with a base clock of 1020 MHz and 1085 MHz boost clock. This gives the N760 TF 2GD5 OC video card a 40 MHz and 52 MHz advantage over the reference 980 MHz base clock and 1033 MHz boost clock. To keep temperatures well below the 95C thermal threshold of the GK104 core, the MSI N760 TF 2GD5 uses the Twin Frozr IV cooler design outfitted with a pair of high-airflow propeller 92mm PWM fans. As with other video cards from MSI’s gaming line, the N760 TF 2GD5 OC is outfitted with MIL-STD-810G certified components including long life Hi-C and Solid caps for increased efficiency and heat resistance, even under overclocked conditions. The MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC also comes bundled with several utility software tools, including the MSI Gaming App, Kombustor stress test, Afterburner utility and Predator capturing program.

For this article we looked at the different 3DMark scores, from 3DMark06 to the latest version of 3DMark that came out this year. We took the same approach we did with the Cinebench 11.5 CPU scores, and averaged the scores of each GPU. The same GPU in different CPUs will of course perform differently, but taking the average provides a good indication of the general performance you can expect, and it serves as a good point of reference for making comparisons. Since we test more than 200 laptops each year, it should paint a fairly accurate picture.

Late May Nvidia introduced the GeForce GTX 780 which we called the 'Titan light' since it was based on the same high-end GK110 GPU used in the very expensive GeForce GTX Titan. You can find that original review here. Tests indicated that it was an average of 8 percent slower than the GTX Titan, not bad for a card that costs £548 compared to the £900 Titan. The GTX 780 gives you really good value for your money in the high-end segment.

For some time now review sites, including ours, have been looking at how well graphics cards deliver frames to our displays when gaming. Average and minimum framerates remain an important aspect of results but a card must deliver frames without delay to give us a truly smooth gaming experience. So over the last few months this aspect of performance has been receiving attention from both NVIDIA and AMD. Today AMD deliver what they hope is a beta driver which addresses frame pacing as they call it in certain scenarios.

Nvidia’s GTX 770 was released as the successor to the GTX 670 when Nvidia announced the GTX 700 series quite some time ago. In essence the GTX 770 is a GTX 680 on steroids and so it isn’t really new as such. What is new is that it has a market price of $400 USD compared to the GTX 680 which has a market price of $420 USD. Of course it is cheaper and performs better as you’d expect from a card that makes the generational advancement. The unique aspect of the GTX 770 comes from its familiarity. Most AIB vendors have already worked with the GK104 GPU when it was the GTX 680 and know exactly how to get the best out of it – which can only be good for consumers.
Today we are looking at MSI’s high end GTX 770 solution that comes equipped with their popular and most recent version of the Twin Frozr VGA cooler. This card is also part of MSI’s Gaming Series so is no longer just standalone Twin Frozr. MSI has a few series that use the Twin Frozr cooler including the Hawk, Gaming, Lightning and the Power Edition cards.Unlike the MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr Gaming OC graphics card, this one we have here today boasts a slightly chunkier heatsink design with an extra 6mm heat pipe to cope with the higher TDP of the GTX 770 compared to the GTX 760. I have already been impressed by MSI’s newest Twin Frozr VGA cooler on so many graphics cards so hopefully today we will be impressed with this latest MSI card.

Today AMD are launching their new range of R7 and R9 video cards, minus the flagship R9 290X, which is coming later. This particular review focuses on the reference AMD R9 270X. The reference card has a price point set at $199, targeting a wide audience of enthusiast gamers who demand excellent Direct X 11 performance.

Every new launch means new custom PCB designs from the manufactures. The first to hit our office this time around was an R9 270X from Gigabyte with their Windforce cooler design and an overclock. In the past I have been impressed with Gigabytes Windforce designs for their pure cooling power, I’m excited to see what three cooling fans on a large heatsink will do for keeping the R9 270X cool. But first let’s take a look at the card.

We take a look at another new TOXIC series video card from Sapphire. This time it's the lower-end Radeon R9 270X 3GB model.
