Some people may not be aware of this, but Battlefields roots began well before the 1942 iteration of the series hit the PC platform with such an impact in 2002. DICE, the developer behind the series, had already played around with large maps and vehicular warfare with their often forgotten Codename Eagle. Codename Eagle shares many traits with Battlefield - a huge multiplayer map with many players able to take on each either via land or air vehicles, or on foot.

At 1080p, the Axle3D GT 430 posts a just about playable 29.1 FPS, whilst the Inno3D GT 430 posts more than 2FPS higher. This is disappointing for Axle3D - a name I wasn't familiar with prior to this review. I would have hoped for this card to be better than the competition

Austin goes a little nutty and has benchmarked seven video cards on 8 benchmarks on his review of the AXLE Radeon HD 5670. He also does power consumption, overclocking and temperature testing all on the latest ATI CATALYST 10.6 and Forceware 257.21 video card drivers! A ton of benchmarking time went into this article as on games like Metro 2033 he benchmarked all the cards at two resolutions on DX9, DX10 and DX11 and took the average of three runs. That means he did nearly 100 benchmarks runs on just that one game title (not all cards could run DX11 if you are wondering why it wasn't 126 runs).

Having had a look again recently at some mid range ATI cards, it's time to have a look at another. In this case it's the HD 5670 from AXLE. Sitting between the HD 5570 and HD 5750, the model was designed for people who don't quite need the power on offer from the HD 5700 series, but need a little more than the HD 5500.

The RADEON HD 5450 from AXLE is a passively cooled video card with a very precise purpose: to be used in a single or multi-monitor setup for 2D applications or watching High Definition movies. The 3D performance is low, can be compared to the 4550 and it is not recommended for the latest games, but the card is passively cooled and should make for a nice HTPC component.

When you think video cards, you think of the major vendors such as Sapphire, HIS, Gigabyte, ASUS, EVGA, MSI, and XFX among a few others between the ATI and NVIDIA camps. Well, today we're looking at a card from a company that is unknown to most Americans, but has actually been around for over twenty years, AXLE 3D. Based out of Hong Kong, AXLE 3D primarily sells their NVIDIA-based products around Asia and Europe which is why they have remained under the radar to most end users in North America. That is about to change, as they are now expanding to the United States and today we are looking at their GeForce GT 240 video card!

Overall, the Axle Geforce GT 220 is a capable card for very minor gaming and would be a good card to consider when planning your next HTPC build.

I was not let down by the GeForce G210. It is no doubt an entry-level video card that is not intended for new generation gaming and the performance shows that. I'd recommend the Axle GeForce G210 as a video card that is well-suited for an HTPC or web browsing computer.
