We talked at length about the NVIDIA-infused Titan supercomputer already, but we haven’t been able to talk about the GPUs that help make the magic happen. In this article, we’re doing just that. We’ll see what the Tesla K-series of “GPU Accelerators” bring to the table and are capable of, and also take a look at where CUDA usage stands today.
Today we published a rather special article. We took 64 graphics cards from the last five years, and tested each one with our current graphics benchmarks. It is quite interesting to see how each successive generation of AMD (ATI back then) and Nvidia video cards pushed performance to another level. We started with the ATI Radeon HD 3000 series and the Nvidia GeForce 8000 series, which were the first DirectX 10-compatible video cards. We picked the high-end cards from each generation, and also the mid-range ones. Surprisingly, a lot of these hold up quite well, even in today’s demanding video games.
