AMD continue to battle new NVIDIA GEFORCE models with new variations of its Radeon video cards. Today we check out the new Radeon HD 7950 Boost from Sapphire.
AMD veröffentlichte erst kürzlich mit der GHz-Edition der HD 7970 eine stärkere Version, um die Geforce GTX 680 in Sachen Spiele-Performance bedrängen zu können. Doch bereits im Vorfeld des Tahiti-XT-Updates brachten diverse Hersteller eigene Kreationen des bis dato stärksten Radeon-Ablegers mit einem Gigahertz GPU-Takt heraus. Asus beispielsweise führt mit der HD 7970 in der DirectCU-II-TOP-Variante ein solches Modell im Portfolio. Ausgestattet mit vielen Features auf Hardware- sowie Software-Ebene soll der Pixelbeschleuniger des Herstellers überzeugen und gegen die Geforce-Konkurrenz bestehen.
AMD hat für die Radeon HD 7950 ein BIOS-Update bereitgestellt, das die GPU-Taktrate der Radeon HD 7950 erhöht und darüber hinaus „PowerTune mit Boost“ hinzufügt.
Getting put through its paces today is the Inno3d iChiLL Black Edition GTX 680, with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Recently AMDs partners were given the ability to design and release their own 7990 products (or 7970 X2 if you like). This would see two 7900 series GPUs on one PCB and every design would be different, PCB layouts, power spec, outputs, coolers... the works. It's also the hottest, which somewhat limits its overclocking potential. It's also noisier than average. If you're only interested in performance, then this Radeon HD 7970 royalAce is a good choice. The ASUS HD7970-DC2T-3GD5 is about six degrees cooler, about 10 dB(A) quieter, a little cheaper but also a little slower.
