Today AMD release their new HD7950 graphics card, tackling the GTX580 ‘head on’ at the same price point. When we were finally in a position to review HD7970 partner hardware, XFX stole the show thanks to a dramatically effective, highly modified ‘Double Dissipation’ version of the card with dual fan cooler. Today we are looking at their HD7950 which on paper promises the same heady combination of performance and cooling efficiency.

Heeyaheeya-wooohaheeya... it's unexpected preview time ladies and gentlemen. It's been a while since ATI introduced their Radeon 4870 X2 graphics card, and well... NVIDIA just didn't have a product around to counteract that steamy X2.

Earlier this week I had the chance to take a look at Asus’s Matrix R9 280X Platinum, today I’m going to come back down to earth a little and check out their R9 270X DirectCU II Top. With a price that fits better into budget builds I’m curious how many of the features I saw on the Matrix will carry over into this card. I have high hopes for the card, but after seeing a few R9 270X’s from other manufactures I can say without a doubt that Asus has their work cut out for them. Let’s dig into it and see what it’s all about.

Last Tuesday we showed physics benchmarking using an upcoming game title called Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. The Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason PC Game TechDemo got some people talking and several of you asked questions on the forums and sent us e-mails asking for more information. Today, we answer those questions and provide you with some new benchmark numbers that include SLI and 3-way SLI results! Will adding a dedicated PhysX card to SLI help performance enough to catch up to 3-way SLI?

With this latest release, ATI is doubling back to fill some gaps in its wildly successful Radeon HD5xxx series of video cards. The previous release, the HD5450, was the logical terminus of their GPU bisecting act. In fact, they got a little carried away, and lopped off almost all the Stream Processors, in order to reduce the power requirements down to the lowest possible level. This time, the goal was to create the best performing low-profile HTPC card they could. The HD5570 is the first in a series of HD55xx video cards, and for now, it will probably be the top card in the group. Loaded up with the Redwood GPU from the HD5670, 1 GB of GDDR3 memory, and an all copper active GPU cooler, the HD5570 looks to be the King of the low-profile world, without the attendant King's ransom. Follow along with Benchmark Reviews as we see how it stacks up against its siblings.

Late May Nvidia introduced the GeForce GTX 780 which we called the 'Titan light' since it was based on the same high-end GK110 GPU used in the very expensive GeForce GTX Titan. You can find that original review here. Tests indicated that it was an average of 8 percent slower than the GTX Titan, not bad for a card that costs £548 compared to the £900 Titan. The GTX 780 gives you really good value for your money in the high-end segment.

At the end of the day, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2GB and the AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB video cards perform very closely together. For right around $250 either of these cards are more than capable of powering a single monitor gaming system without a problem. We were also impressed by what they could do on a 5760x1080 triple monitor setup thanks to NVIDIA Surround and AMD Eyefinity...

NVIDIA has recently released its fastest GPU to date, the GeForce GTX 580. Let's see how it compares to what was until then the fastest NVIDIA GPU, the GeForce GTX 480, and its competitors from AMD.
