Today we have the HIS Radeon 6970 Turbo on our test bench and have paired it with an overclocked Core i7-980X to see how well it performs against the standard 6970 and GTX 570 in a selection of real world gaming tests, media playback, stereoscopic 3D and GPU computing.

HIS are a brand that we've seen over and over again, and usually would see us faced with a fancy card with a fancy cooler and some slightly overclocked speeds, and whilst some of that applies to the review today, we won't see any speed increases on this one.

We've looked at the HIS HD 6970 Turbo, we've also looked at some IceQ variants of the HD 6800 series; but today the power of the IceQ and Turbo series combine to create the HIS HD 6970 IceQ Turbo. The IceQ series is a popular one for HIS and has always represented their best cooler in the HIS line-up. Combined with the Turbo label, the card carries with it also a nice out of the box overclock

HIS are bucking the trend for custom 6950s today with a new version of the 6970, the IceQ Mix. While it has a name which could make people think of a cold drink it is actually a rather interesting take on the 6970 featuring a large, low noise custom cooler and the first real attempt we have seen at implementing Lucids HydraLogix 200 controller on a graphics card.

Featuring a brand new custom ‘black impeller’ IceQ cooler and the innovative Lucid Hydra chip the latest Radeon HD 6970 IceQ MIX 2GB by HIS is not only fast, cool and quiet but it can also be paired with an NVIDIA GeForce card to enjoy the benefits of having both PhysX and CUDA support in your system.

We've just had a look at the HIS HD 6970 Turbo and I then realized that we hadn't even had a look at the reference HD 6970 2GB from HIS. It's not that we had forgotten about it, but we wanted to give the card the same treatment as the GIGABYTE HD 6950 2GB we have just looked at.

I've always liked the Turbo series from HIS. It's not my favorite series from the company, with me personally being a larger fan of the iCooler series, but more importantly the iCooler Turbo series which carries the benefits of an upgraded cooler and benefits of that pre-overclock.

Although the HIS Radeon HD 6950 IceQ X Turbo X 2GB (H695QNX2G2M) may not be the fastest single card out there still its very good overall performance along with its great overclocking potential, low noise levels and Eyefinity multi-monitor support result in a great product.

There are no shortage of modified AMD HD6000 series cards currently available on the market, and today we are looking at the latest HD6950 from HIS, featuring the infamous semi transparent IceQ cooler. The HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 IceQ X PLUS Edition is a custom design and based on past experiences we expect great things from the latest solution.

Already having looked at the HD 6970 in Crossfire, it was time to see what its slightly smaller brother, the HD 6950, was capable of when we paired it up with a second one. Scaling has become extremely strong with not just the HD 6970, but the HD 6000 on a whole it seems.
