For the last week we have been busy testing a plethora of new 7 series graphics cards from various AMD partners. Today we are looking at the latest card to be released from XFX, the HD7870 Black Edition which features a custom metal cooler, twin fans and overclocked ‘out of the box’ settings.
Today we will put two of the top models, Sapphires OC Edition and XFX's DD Black Edition head to head in order to find out what they offer mainstream gamers looking for top performance in the latest games...including Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim.
We have been hard at work for the last week reviewing many new 7000 series cards from AMD’s leading partners. In this review today we are looking at the new Sapphire HD7850 Overclock Edition which features a custom cooling solution and out of the box clock speed enhancements.
After looking at the Radeon HD 7750 from HIS in a standalone review and then looking at reference model paired with it for some HD 7750 CrossFire action, I swore that I wasn't interested in testing another one. Still if someone was ever going to get our attention with a version it was going to be the folks over at Sapphire and that's exactly what they did.
This industry, like every other industry loves drama. As if we didn't create enough this week with our slew of Ivy Bridge content that saw us test the Intel Core i5 3570K and Intel Core i7 3770K . If that wasn't enough we checked out the latest G.Skill RAM and achieved some massive overclocking performance. To finally round it all off we then took the time to overclock both processors to see how that went.
Since NVIDIA sent us nothing on the GTX 680 codenamed "Kepler" - no press deck, no whitepaper, no conference call information, no sample, no NDA date - absolutely nothing - we're kind of winging it here. Something we don't really like to do. But when I woke up this morning again with no information from NVIDIA, I was just over it and decided to knock this review over straight away as clearly we weren't going to hear anything from them. How is that for professionalism? (Ed: Shocking!)
Alors qu'AMD vient de sortir son nouveau haut de gamme, la fameuse HD 7970, nous allons revenir sur ce que propose actuellement NVIDIA. Nous allons tester deux GTX 580 overclockées d’usine et une GTX 570, qui elle aussi a subi un rehaussement de ses fréquences. Cela va nous permettre de constater quelles sont les meilleures cartes gamers chez le caméléon actuellement, en attendant la 680, alors que les prix des cartes ont tendance à baisser. Deux de ces cartes nous viennent de chez Point Of View, et font donc parti logiquement de la gamme TGT. La dernière carte nous vient de chez Asus, il s'agit de la fameuse Matrix.

In the seven game titles that we tested today, we found the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 to be 14.34% faster than the stock AMD Radeon HD 7970 reference card when we compared all of the tests results at a resolution of 1920x1080. Factor in that the GeForce GTX 680 costs $50 less and you got yourself some pretty good reasons to go with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 over an AMD Radeon HD 7900 series card...
