Today we have another graphics card from the 7000 and from HIS, the HIS HD7770 1GB GHz Edition. The HD7770 is within the mid-range spectrum of 2012’s graphics cards, and is a good performer, pushing out respectable game frame rates. The Radeon HD7770 is aimed towards those consumers who are a little more budget conscious, as the price tag on this unit is also very respectable...

If you haven't heard already, the 257.15 Beta ForceWare driver set from NVIDIA accidently had the ability for ATI users to again use an NVIDIA card as a second to do PhysX. The whole ordeal created a bit of drama around the web; as soon as it was discovered by NVIDIA they yanked the driver and put another one up that disabled the ability.

Since the product launched in April AMD’s partners have struggled to bring these cards to market. Nothing is more annoying that a paper launch, especially when the demand seems high for the new AMD flagship. Sapphire sent us their card last week and we have spent some time playing with the hardware in a QUAD SLI configuration, paired up with our AMD HD7990 reference sample.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 is a video card targeted at the mid-range market with a price point below $200. As such, it stands to reason that the 6870 should perform as an excellent upgrade for anyone looking to beef up a rig that has begun to show its age. With this in mind, the test system used for the 6870 will be something a typical user could expect to have built four to five years ago.

Late March Nvidia introduced (and we reviewed) the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost, which was a new version of the GeForce GTX 650 Ti. When you look at the specs you'll see that it's an entry-level version of the GeForce GTX 660. Clock frequencies, turbo and memory bandwidth are all identical. Only the number of active shader units is the same as on the original GTX 650 Ti Boost. The GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost is Nvidia's answer to the AMD Radeon HD 7790. Nvidia's card is generally slightly faster, but it's also slightly more expensive. We already tested GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost cards from ASUS and MSI. Today we'll be taking a closer look at EVGA's take on it, the EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost Superclocked 2GB.

We're at that calm before the storm where video card releases become few and far between. We're at the point where companies release slightly rehashed versions of cards we already know and love. We're at the point where companies are sending out press releases about technology they've already had on the market for ages. That's where the video card market is at and it's clear with the last few video cards we've looked at, including the one we're looking at today in the Sapphire HD 6870 Dirt 3 Edition OC. The good news is, though, that the calm before the storm means two things.

Today, though, we get to move away from the reference card design and see what's going on with our first retail HD 7870 in the form of the PowerColor PCS+ HD 7870 GHz OC Edition 2GB. We haven't seen much from PowerColor in the form of the PCS+ series, but it's always one that has taken my eye.
What's making these new cooling solutions so much more attractive as well is the fact that the new 28nm GPU on the HD 7000 series runs so cool that the latest coolers are seeing some awesome performance on the new models. We've got our fingers crossed that the PCS+ cooler that PowerColor has opted for today follows the trend of strong cooling.
