We take a look at the IceQ XTurbo X version of the Radeon HD 7870 from HIS, but is itjust a gimmick?
Graphic cards
The latest card to get the IceQ treatment from the team over at HIS comes in the form of the HD 7870 IceQ Turbo. When it comes to HIS cards, this is a model that carries our two favorite words. "IceQ" that lets us know we're dealing with a new cooler and "Turbo" which lets us know we're dealing with a pre-overclocked card.
While we'll get into more details on the overclock soon, because the Turbo clock on offer from the HIS card was similar to that of the PowerColor PCS+ HD 7870 we've just looked at, we figured we'd fire up some overclocking software and see how the new HD 7870 goes in the overclocking department; an area we haven't looked in yet.

It's round three of the AMD HD7000 series video card launch cycle and still NVIDIA have yet to fully show their hand, and until they do these new video cards are going to cost an arm and a leg. In this article we take a look at the more moderately priced (compared with the 79XX series) HIS Radeon HD7870 IceQ Turbo 2GB 'GHz Edition' video card armed with AMD's Pitcairn 28nm GPU Core. Sure enough it will run your favorite games with high settings at 1080p but with an msrp of $379.99 you might want to check your finances before you click that buy button. A lot of video card reviews lately, and that’s good thing I think. We’re moving up the line of 7000 series cards and today we have the HIS Radeon 7870 Ghz Edition which obviously runs at 1Ghz core clock, along with that it comes with 2gb of DDR5 memory and it runs on the PCIE 3.0 interface for the fastest speeds. The card comes equipped with two Displayport connections along with HDMI and DVI so you can run a few monitors off of it or you can enable Eyefinity for some real gaming fun. I’ve put it up against some other cards I’ve got on hand for comparison, so let’s get into it….

Today happens to be a holiday in quite a few places around Europe (i just learned of this almost 2 weeks ago) so i basically didn't plan to upload any reviews (resting once in a while is not bad thing especially if you work between 13 and 17 hours a day) but since something urgent came up for this weekend and also because i did promise more graphics cards reviews inside May (and it's almost over) to all of you i figured that it would be nice to have another review surrounding yet again one of the latest mid-end graphics cards to hit the market by HIS digital, the Radeon HD 7850 iCooler 2GB.
