HIS first introduced its IceQ coolers in 2003 to its Radeon 9800PRO series of video cards, eight years later HIS return with the IceQ X cooler, which thankfully performs much better than it looks. In this review the IceQ X cooler is strapped onto a HIS HD6850 Turbo 1GB video card which comes factory overclocked at 820MHz GPU and 1100MHz Memory. Increasing clocks on any video card requires above average cooling and HIS know that they have nothing to worry about, their IceQ cooler is up to the job. Benchmark Reviews aims to provide you with an unbiased review of the HIS HD6850 IceQ X Turbo and report back our findings, keeping you informed on the latest technologies available on the market today.

The HIS Radeon HD 5750 graphics card features a dual slot GPU cooler called the iCooler IV. This cooling system moves a massive amount of cool air from the central cooler to cool down the internal fins directly. Heat from the 5750 GPU can rapidly transfer to internal fins that extend under the cooler. Read on to see if the fan performs better than others found in this series!

First up on our test bench is the HIS Radeon HD 7970 3GB. We will be putting it up against the best of the last generation in a selection of real world tests which include Battlefield 3, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Skyrim… all at 5760x1080. In addition to this we will also look at GPU computing and media performance as well as power and thermal performance.

HIS brings a dual GPU Radeon HD 7970 video card to the market and we find out if it's something you want. Is there really any question about it, though?

We overclock the HIS Radeon HD 7970 3GB IceQ X2 video card with its new "iPower" improved power setup and see how it performs under our benchmark tests.

We are looking at to one of the "big boys" in the market, in the case of HIS Radeon HD 7950 IceQ X 2 with boost clock and 3GB RAM. So a map where but not to compromise on anything, either by performance or when talking about eye candy. The card is not among the cheap, but often hangs quality and performance well with price. Let's see how this cool graphic card perform.

At the launch of any new GPU we always try to make an effort to put a reference based video card up for testing as it's the best model to set a baseline for what we're dealing with when it comes to a new model. At the same time, though, we be fair and in a first come first serve basis the XFX HD 7950 Black Edition Double Dissipation 3GB was the first to arrive at our labs and not only did it carry with itself an aftermarket cooler, but also an out of the box overclock.
Today, though, we take a step back and look at a Radeon HD 7950 from HIS that carries with it what should be the reference cooler along with the standard reference clocks. Of course before we get into the performance side of things there are a few other areas we need to look at.
