When we originally published our 7970 content on January 9th 2011 it wasn't possible to run Quad CrossFire with the 7970 and MSI's new X79 Big Bang XPower 2 motherboard. The configuration simply wasn't enabled. That changed overnight with a new BIOS from MSI and new driver from AMD (dated 5th January) which allowed us to test 4x7970 in CrossFire.

En effet, la monstrueuse HD 6990 en employant deux s'est adjugée le titre des performances au prix de nombreuses contreparties. AMD revient aujourd'hui avec la puce "Tahiti" qui inaugure une toute nouvelle architecture GCN censée combler le retard pris sur la concurrence en termes de GPU computing et reprendre le leadership des performances 3D. Pour vérifier ce point nous avons confront é la RADEON HD 7970 employant ce nouveau GPU, à 11 cartes sur un panel de 20 jeux, verdict ?

Today we're moving over to a HIS HD 7970 video card and since it follows the reference design and MSI have just released a new version of Afterburner that allows voltage adjustment on the new HD 7970, we figured it was time to see how the overclocking capabilities of the new card is.

After that we moved onto the HIS HD 7970 3GB and took the time to overclock it to see just what kind of potential was on offer from the brand new model. Today the Sapphire HD 7970 3GB showed up and it was time to see what happens when we finally put together a pair of these new cards and see what kind of performance we're able to get out of the new models when in CrossFire.
