There is no doubt that the NVIDIA GTX 460 has created quite a splash since its introduction. The reconfigured Fermi architecture of the new GF104 chip gives the card a welcome boost in gaming performance, compared to the first GPUs in the series. With 1/3 fewer transistors to feed, the board uses much less power, runs cooler, and it overclocks well with just air cooling. With that kind of capability baked into the basic design, it didn't take long for NVIDIA's partners to start releasing overclocked editions with advanced cooling hardware. MSI has taken on the challenge, and released one of their custom designs under the Cyclone banner. Benchmark Reviews can't resist a good HSF assembly; that much should be obvious to long term readers. So here we are with a detailed review of the MSI N460GTX Cyclone 1GD5/OC video card.

The GeForce GTX 460, which is being released today, is the latest DirectX 11-based graphics chip from NVIDIA. Video cards based on this new GPU will be available between USD 200 (768 MB version) and USD 229 (1 GB version), making them the most affordable DirectX 11 video cards based on an NVIDIA solution. With recent price cuts conducted by AMD/ATI, this new graphics processor competes directly with Radeon HD 5830. Let's see how this factory-overclocked version from MSI dubbed N460GTX Cyclone 768D5/OC fared in our tests.

The slew of NVIDIA GTX 460 video cards that hit the market in the last month was impressive. Everybody wanted as much of the pie as they could get, which was not surprising given the level of performance that the GTX460 offers for the cost. On almost every level, the GTX 460 was a game-changer for Fermi. Some vendors weren't satisfied with putting a label on the reference design, and MSI is one of them. The N460GTX HAWK that Benchmark Reviews is looking at today is a brand new board design with advanced features no one else can match. They also adapted their Twin Frozr II cooling design for the HAWK, and bumped up the heatpipe count to four. To top it all off, the new version of MSI Afterburner can control voltage levels for three diferent subsystems. This could be the GTX460 that all the hard core overclockers have been waiting for.

The MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC 1GB graphics cards is based on the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti GPU, but is kept nice and cool with the MSI Cyclone II cooling solution. The N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC is factory overclocked with the core clock set to 950MHz and the memory at 1075MHz. We put this overclocked GF116 card to the test to see how it performs, keeps cool and overclocks!

The GeForce GTX 550 Ti is the latest addition to the GeForce GTX 500 series from NVIDIA, coming with a nice USD 150 suggested price, putting it between the GeForce GTS 450 and the GeForce GTX 460 768 MB. The MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone OC comes with a custom GPU cooler and factory-overclocking, costing only USD 5 above the reference model. Let's check it out.

NVIDIA have completely blown away their previous generation GPU's with the introduction of the GTX 5xx line up and now it is the turn of the GTX550-Ti to show the world what it is made of. Rumours of the specifications suggesting the GTX550-Ti is just an overclocked GTS 450 have been around for a while now but all the details have not quite been correct. The MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC video card looks a whole lot like its predecessor but as we have seen with the previous 5xx video cards the revised GF11x GPU easily out performs its counterpart. Also working in the favor of the GTX550-Ti is the 192-bit wide memory interface giving MSI N550GTX-Ti Cyclone II OC video card 103.2GB/s memory bandwidth, which is closer to the GTX460 than the GTS450. Price wise the GTX550-Ti will fit in just nicely between the GTX460 and GTS450 and also the Radeon HD5570, so let's find out where it fits performance wise. Benchmark Reviews aims! to provide you with an unbiased review of the MSI N550GTS-Ti Cyclone II OC and report back our findings, keeping you informed on the latest technologies available on the market today.

History always repeats itself, and NVIDIA is hoping for a repeat performance with their new GTX 560 Ti video card. With performance per mm2 and per watt numbers that put the first Fermi chips to shame, the GTX 460 deserves all the success it has enjoyed. Now, they've applied the same tweaks to the GF104 GPU that brought the high-end Fermi cards back from the dead, and we have the new GF114 in place to do battle in the upper mid-market. MSI is also repeating the same steps they used with the GTX 460 to capture the interest of graphics overclocking enthusiasts. Their Twin Frozr II design offered a massive upgrade in performance compared to the stock cooling scheme, and it helped achieve a world record of 1.0 GHz on air cooling for the GTX 460. Fast forward six months and MSI has launched an upgraded GTX 560 Ti video card at the same time that the reference design is hitting the market. The MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC model offers up a modest 7! % factory overclock, but I'm guessing there's more where that came from. Benchmark Reviews takes full advantage of MSI's hardware upgrade, as we explore the full potential of NVIDIA's latest midrange marvel on our test bed.
