Nvidia's GTX 760 is turning out to be a bit of a hit with gamers as it is offering a sweet spot of high end performance and high end features for a price that is much better than the previous generation. The GTX 760 is essentially a GTX 670 in terms of performance and when you bring in overclocked versions like this GTX 760 Twin Frozr Gaming Series graphics card from MSI, you get even more performance. Yet the GTX 760 is substantially more affordable than the GTX 670 was - coming in at about $250 USD instead of the $345 USD the GTX 670 went for. Pairing up Nvidia's most popular GTX 700 series GPU with MSI's increasingly popular Gaming Series of products and we have with us what will essentially be the best selling MSI Gaming series graphics card - simply because it is the most affordable and best value.
The MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr Gaming OC Edition comes overclocked out of the box by an additional 40MHz at 1020MHz base clock, up from the 980MHz default clocks. Memory is left at stock 6GHz speeds but we are told by MSI, and have seen from other reviews, that there is a tonne of overclocking potential on the memory MSI equip. The MSI GTX 760 we have here equips MSI's Twin Frozr cooler which has three 6mm heat pipes, one 8mm heat pipe and a pair of 100mm fans. There is also a tonne of other advanced features like additional VRM cooling, Super Ferrite Chokes and up to 3 way SLI support.

We've been working our way through the MSI Twin Frozr Gaming OC GTX 700 series video cards recently. Today it's all about the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 model.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 brings a welcomed performance increase to the now year-old GeForce GTX 680 graphics card. Our testing found the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 2GB OC Edition cards by ASUS and MSI were between 5-15% faster than the original GeForce GTX 680 2GB reference card. This is a nice performance increase thanks to the higher clock speeds and the additional memory bandwidth provided by the 7.0 Gbps memory.

The MSI Lightning video card series makes a return with the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770. Let's see just what it can do - we're expecting good things.

Nvidia’s GTX 770 was released as the successor to the GTX 670 when Nvidia announced the GTX 700 series quite some time ago. In essence the GTX 770 is a GTX 680 on steroids and so it isn’t really new as such. What is new is that it has a market price of $400 USD compared to the GTX 680 which has a market price of $420 USD. Of course it is cheaper and performs better as you’d expect from a card that makes the generational advancement. The unique aspect of the GTX 770 comes from its familiarity. Most AIB vendors have already worked with the GK104 GPU when it was the GTX 680 and know exactly how to get the best out of it – which can only be good for consumers.
Today we are looking at MSI’s high end GTX 770 solution that comes equipped with their popular and most recent version of the Twin Frozr VGA cooler. This card is also part of MSI’s Gaming Series so is no longer just standalone Twin Frozr. MSI has a few series that use the Twin Frozr cooler including the Hawk, Gaming, Lightning and the Power Edition cards.Unlike the MSI GTX 760 Twin Frozr Gaming OC graphics card, this one we have here today boasts a slightly chunkier heatsink design with an extra 6mm heat pipe to cope with the higher TDP of the GTX 770 compared to the GTX 760. I have already been impressed by MSI’s newest Twin Frozr VGA cooler on so many graphics cards so hopefully today we will be impressed with this latest MSI card.

NVIDIA’s GeForce 700 series of cards are made up of the GTX 760, GTX 770 and GTX 780. The GTX 770 is actually based on the same GPU as the GeForce GTX 680. It makes use of the 28nm GK104 chip. This chip features 8 streaming multiprocessors (SMX units), 1536 stream processors, 1218 texture units and 32 ROPs. The GTX 770 is clocked a little higher than the GTX 680 with a 1049 MHz core clock and a boost clock of 1085 MHz. The memory is also higher at 7010 MHz (effective). With these improvements and since many companies are already used to working with the GK104 chip this should make for better performance and a more powerful card. Today we are taking a look at a GTX 770 from MSI. It is their GTX 770 Twin Frozr Gaming OC Edition which features MSI’s own Twin Frozr IV cooling solution, Military Class III components and 3 different operating modes (silent, gaming & OC). Read on to see if this is the GTX 770 for you.
