Back in 2009, ASUS launched their 1000-piece limited edition mammoth "Mars" (2 x GTX285 on a single card) and took the performance crown over then GPU leaders NVIDIA GTX295 and AMD HD5970, albeit at a significant price premium. Two years later today and equipped with two GTX580 Fermi cores, we do a mini review on the world's fastest single graphics card for enthusiasts - ASUS Republic of Gamers Mars II.

Today we are looking at the Republic Of Gamers Mars II video card, which is a custom design comprising two powerful GTX580′s onto a single PCB. Asus are only making 999 of these cards, and we received number 518 for review. Our time with the sample hasn’t been as long as we would have liked, but we will try and ensure you have enough information to help with a potential buying decision.

In 2009 we saw ASUS bring us the first in what would become a line of limited edition graphics card beasts. The MARS sporting the power of two GTX 285 cores brought us excellent performance. 2010 saw ASUS jump on the AMD side of things and release the ARES which sported two HD 5870 cores. A new year and a new card sees ASUS jump back on to the NVIDIA side to release the sexiest looking card we've ever seen; the MARS II.

Companies like ASUS have a their own design engineers and every so often the management will let them run free. When that happens you end up with a ridiculous product that pushes the boundaries for what can be done with current technology. ASUS took the Republic of Gamers (ROG) product engineers and challenged them to design the fastest NVIDIA graphics card possible. The result was the ASUS MARS II and we have a quick preview on the card for you!

Already so impressed with what the MARS II has to offer, we knew what had to be done. Using GPU Tweak, the overclocking software that replaced ASUS SmartDoctor, it was time to see just what kind of overclocking performance could be had from the new MARS II from ASUS. I'm expecting good things from the card to be honest. For starters, the cooler is just massive on the card and we already know it does a fantastic job of cooling the two GTX 580 cores present. With the help of that cooler, we're hoping that we'll get some good breathing room on the cores.

The Zotac GTX 560 Multiview brings native 3 monitor support to the nVidia table. With HDMI, DVI-d, and DP on a GTX 560, how can you go wrong? We show you why the GTX 560 may bring some additional problems to the table.

Recent changes to my testbeds and just the office in general means that I've had the opportunity to expand my testing setup. One of the main things that comes with the office reshuffle is a full time triple monitor setup via three Dell U2410s that run at 1920 x 1200 each. So the setup doesn't take up even more room than it needs to, I've opted to use the monitors in a portrait configuration instead of landscape, which you can see in the above picture.

This years video card industry has brought a plethora of upgrades to the market, technologies such as multi-monitor solutions and 3D are some of the tops that come to mind. The video card company that takes it a step further and comes up with their own niche, creates technologies that no other manufacturer has are the ones that going to succeed. Sapphire has proven themselves one of these innovative manufacturers time and time again, first with vapor-X cooling, next making Eyefinity out of the box solutions with their FleX technology.
