Over the last few months we've seen MSI do some wonderful things to the GTX 580, releasing the model into its Lightning series and then during Computex re-releasing the GTX 580 in 3GB form also under the Lightning series; but in this case it was the Lightning Xtreme Edition. Someone else has done something with the GTX 580, but I can't really remember who; it's probably got something to do with the fact we haven't seen it.

When I mention the British Phonographic Industry, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Penthouse Magazine? Playboy UK? Well, my advice to you is, let's get your head out of the gutter, because what we are talking about here is the British Phonographic Industry, not the British Pornographic Industry. (On the other hand, it is interesting to point out most people get it wrong at first glance, too.) With that in mind, let me introduce to you the product we are reviewing today. The Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 1GB OC, as its name suggests, is based off one of NVIDIA's latest GPU releases, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560. Wait a second. Hasn't the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 been around since January? Fair enough, but like when we have mentioned British Phonographic Industry earlier, it is one of those things you can easily misread -- the one you are thinking about is probably the GTX 560 Ti. You know, the Titanium version, with more stream processors and texture units, combined with a marginally higher clock speed. The GV-N56GOC-1GI is based off the non-Ti version with a slight overclock to 830MHz core, 1660MHz shader, and 1002MHz memory; followed by a stream-texture-ROP configuration count of 336-56-32, respectively. Situated in the extremely competitive $200 MSRP market, and priced slightly below that at press time, how well does the usual Gigabyte approach of taking a standard GPU, install it on a custom PCB full of high quality components, slap on a custom cooler on top (Or under, depending on your perspective), fare in this ultra competitive market? Read on to find out what we have found!

Today the particular card we're looking at is the ASUS HD 6970 DirectCU II one. I've quickly become a fan of the DirectCU II cooler for the simple fact it's proven to do an extremely good job when it comes to giving us low temperatures at low noise levels. The biggest gripe people have with the model is that it's of course a triple slot card.

Once in a while a card pops up, that turns the head of many gamers. Not necesarrily because it's being the fastest card in games. But mostly as it's one of the cards that delivers amasing performance for the buck. The GTX560 Ti isn't a new revolutionary design though. Look more at it as a souped up GTX460 256bit 1Gb card. Without further adue time to see how the MSI performs in a few games, but more importantly to see if she can be pushed a bit more.

I stumbled across a copy of Deadly Premonition while I was looking for something else in my local Game store. I picked up a copy as I was intrigued by the cover and by the fact that I’d never actually heard of it. It’s not often that video games slip past my radar, especially weird Japanese ones, which I particularly enjoy.

I've looked at a couple of video cards over the past few months, each being more powerful (and expensive) than the previous. It all started with MSI's R6850 which retailed for $177.99 at the time of our review. Next on the list was the ASUS GTX560 Ti which showed a marked improvement over the slower AMD offering, albeit at roughly $75 more expensive. Today we will bump things up to the higher-end of the spectrum as we analyze the ASUS GTX580 DirectCU II graphics card, a $500 premium GPU featuring a core clock of 782 MHz, 512 processor cores and an effective memory clock of 4008 MHz. This card is factory overclocked by 10 MHz (772 MHz reference) but ASUS also offers a higher factory overclocked version of this card at 816 MHz.
