"Lately we have been taking a look at a lot of Radeon R9 280X graphics cards. These are based on the Tahiti GPU that was also found in AMD’s Radeon HD 7900 series cards. For those not looking to spend as much money the next step down in AMD’s latest graphics cards is the R9 270X/270 series. These cards are based off the Pitcairn GPU and still offer a very good price / performance ratio. Today we are looking at MSI’s Radeon R9 270 Gaming graphics card. This card will feature a factory overclock and MSI’s own Twin Frozr IV cooling solution. Is this the best graphics card for under $200? We are going to find out!

MSI has created an exceptional graphics card that will have no issues playing games at 1080p all while running cool and quiet. While the architecture isn’t completely new the performance-per-watt is better than the last generation and AMD is kicking ass on the gaming bundle front.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has been keeping us extremely busy launching new graphics cards and this week is no different. AMD announced the Radeon R9 270 graphics card this morning at the $179.99 price point. This is the sixth video card that AMD has added to the Radeon R7 and R9 series of video cards since October! This 'new' card is interesting as it reduces the entry price into the high-end R9 series down to the $179 price point and uses the same exact Pitcarin GPU found on the AMD Radeon R9 270X!

We take a look at our second R9 270. This time from MSI with an out of the box overclock. Let's see how it goes.

The other day we checked out the MSI HD 7970 Lightning 3GB and in typical MSI Lightning fashion we found ourselves really impressed with what was on offer. Strong overclocking performance, a good out of the box overclock, awesome cooler and just a huge amount of features make it a stand out video card.
We figured what's better than a single HD 7970 Lightning 3GB overclocked, though? Two MSI HD 7970 Lighting 3GB video cards overclocked and in CrossFire mode! So that's exactly what we did - we organized another MSI HD 7970 Lightning 3GB, paired it with the one we had and then proceeded to overclock them both in CrossFire. Much fun prevailed, of course.

The Lightning series of video cards from MSI are just one of those series that I look forward to probably a little bit more than most other series on the market. MSI are consistent with the series and we have never been disappointed with any model that gets the Lightning treatment.
The latest video card to get the Lightning treatment is the AMD Radeon HD 7970 and as always we hope it brings us some serious overclocking potential like previous Lightning models have. The HD 7970, though, is a good jumping point for MSI as the model itself has proved to perform quite well when it's come to overclocking. With the general MSI tweaks, though, we expect some serious clocks.

Considering we've seen the company jump fairly quick into the Twin Frozr cooling setup, we figure it was simply because they were hard at work making something that was going to stand out. The Twin Frozr cooler has always been one of our favorite coolers, especially if you're looking exclusively at dual slot cards.
How's the beloved Twin Frozr III cooler go with the new 28nm HD 7950, though? Well, there's only one way to find out and we want to make sure we can see what it's really made out of which can only be done one way, overclocking!

With the success of the 7950 from AMD, MSI have bolted their patented Twin Frozr III cooler on it and ramped up the performance.

AMD's Radeon HD 7000 series is out in full force now and even with the NVIDIA 600 series launching, it's still getting a lot of attention. As is typical with video card releases, manufacturers like to make their own designs and subtle changes and release various different cards based off of the same GPU. Here at Benchmark Reviews, we've received the MSI Radeon HD R7870 Hawk video card and we are prepared to put it to the test. With an unlocked BIOS and a digital PWM, the MSI R7870 Hawk begs to be overclocked. Let's find out just how fast it can go.

MSI expand the popular HAWK series with the introduction of the popular AMD Radeon HD 7870 to the performance based series of video cards.
