I'm not sure what word I would use to describe what came to mind when I heard that Sapphire was going to be re-releasing the HD 5850 and HD 5830 to the market. First I wondered, why? - But the answer to that would be nothing more than excess cores that need to go. Next, I was a bit surprised and shocked because I felt it was more of a step backwards than anything else. The thing is, though, if the price and performance is good, why not buy one? - Both models were very good over 12 months ago, but the HD 5830 never sold. People didn't like the 30 naming scheme and it was never really accepted.

The Radeon HD 6570 and Radeon HD 6670 were originally released at the beginning of the year as OEM products, i.e., available only for computer manufacturers. Last month, AMD released them on the retail market with a suggested price of USD 80 and USD 100, respectively.

The GeForce GT 440, an entry-level DirectX 11 video card, can come with two memory configurations: 512 MB GDDR5 running at 3.2 GHz (51.2 GB/s) or 1 GB DDR3 running at 1.8 GHz (28.8 GB/s), both costing exactly the same. So, which is the better option, a GeForce GT 440 with less but faster memory, or a GeForce GT 440 with more but slower memory? Check it out.

"The Power Edition series is one that we don't hear a lot about from MSI, but it's a really good series for those hoping to get a bit more than the norm when it comes to overclocking. It's kind of a less hardcore version of the Lightning Series, but designed for higher end cards than we would normally see in the HAWK series.

When Stephen Harper won the 41st Canadian general election and became the Prime Minister for the third time in five years, political commentators on TV praised him for his very well presented victory speech. But why are we praising someone who didn't even write the speech in the first place? The answer to this question is actually quite simple, but requires some food for thought. So let's put it this way: Give the same speech to people like you or me. Unless your name happens to be Stephen J. Harper, just because we have the same draft on hand, does not mean we can present it as well as the next. In the same way, we all know there are a billion versions of the same video card in the market today. Whether it is ASUS or MSI or HIS or PowerColor or Gigabyte, they all have all have some kind of AMD or NVIDIA GPU in the middle, and none of the board manufacturers had any hand in the design of the GPU. So what makes you want to buy a Gigabyte video card over, say, an ASUS variant, even though they are both Radeon 6870s? Other than the usual price and warranty factors, stuff like the included cooler plays a role, too. The Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 1GB SOC we are reviewing today is a great example of what makes a run-of-the-mill graphics card unique among the competition. Combined with high quality electronic components and a hardcore looking WindForce 3X triple fan heatsink, how well does this "super" overclock version of AMD's excellent Radeon 6870 GPU step up against its competitors? We took one in and fired up our test platform for some benchmarking fun. Read on to see why we like this card so much!

For those looking for a new slimline graphics solution, this new midrange card from Powercolor might just tick all the right boxes. If space is at a premium then this card offers ‘full fat’ gaming performance with 775mhz core speed and up to four cards supported in CrossFireX.

Today we shall focus on four graphics cards from Sapphire: three Radeon HD 6870 and one Radeon HD 6850. Only one of those is factory-overclocked, but three out of four are custom products.
