With the launch of the Intel X79 based motherboards approaching very soon, certain models have been long awaited and of course, the main suspect is part of the Republic of Gamers range of boards from Asus. We were lucky enough to see the Rampage IV Extreme at a recent Asus X79 event and until now, was made to wait until we could get it into our test chamber.

ITX motherboards have been around for long time now. The problem is, they’ve been so far behind in technology and with such high price tags it makes them an option not even worth considering. However, with the release of the Intel Atom processor, a series of ITX motherboards using the processor have been released. Some people say these are the new generation of motherboards. Built with onboard processors, graphics and power supplies, you can easily build a low cost energy efficient computer system for around £200-250.
The motherboard we’ll be reviewing today is manufactured by Zotac, a quickly expanding company. It’s built using the Nvidia ION graphics platform which supports even DirectX10. The Intel Atom processor used in this system is the Dual Core based Atom N330. Costing less than £200, these specifications are certainly quite impressive. Let’s see if the Zotac ION A-Series’ performance is as good as its specifications might suggest….

While building our NVIDIA Ion powered Mini-ITX computer system we found that the fan used to cool the Intel Atom 330 processor and Nvidia Ion chipset was louder than what we expected from our prototype ASUS AT3N7A-I motherboard. ASUS said they agreed with the feedback and sent us a new fan that is being used on the retail models. Read on to see how loud the new one is!

We really liked what we saw from Gigabyte's Intel Z77 based GA-Z77X-UD4H motherboard -- the board graciously offers up a comprehensive feature set, its layout and implementation are well executed and the build quality is first rate. he board offers up two PCI Express x16 slots for two-way graphics card set ups in x8/x8 mode, single graphics cards will run in x16 mode. Graphics cards will run at PCI Express Gen 2.0 or PCI Express Gen 3.0 support depending on the CPU architecture and videocard.

Earlier this year ASRock surprised us with their M3A780GXH/128M motherboard. Today, we look at that boards successor, the ASRock M3A785GXH/128M motherboard. The new board features an integrated Radeon HD 4200 with 128mb of DDR3 onboard. Is it enough to run FarCry 2? Hit the link to find out.

AMD is introducing a new mainstream integrated graphics chipset, the AMD 785G and Radeon HD 4200 IGP. The AMD 785G and its Radeon HD 4200 are the first with DirectX 10.1 compliance for Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, and include enhanced features like ATI Stream application acceleration and improved Universal Video Decoding 2. The MSI 785GM-E65 is a socket AM3 motherboard, which means it's compatible with AMD's newest processors like the Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition and the Athlon II X2 250.

The i7 series of processors accompanied by an enthusiast grade motherboard utilizing the X58 chipset were one of the most highly anticipated product releases since the Core 2 Duo. At the time of the launch Intel introduced their DX58SO motherboard affectionately nicknamed the "Smackover". The DX58SO motherboard is without a doubt the most feature laden endeavor that Intel has undertaken to date. It is not only slanted towards the the serious overclocker but it provides a bevy of BIOS related features that could easily take take Intel's latest product to the next level of performance.

We look at the first ROG based Intel Z77 motherboard from ASUS, the Maximus V GENE. Let's find out how it performs.

While everyone waits with baited breath for AMD to release their new range of processors, we felt it was a good time to have a look at another Intel Z68 motherboard – the Gigabyte Z68X-UD7-B3. Gigabyte have earned a good reputation in the industry over the years for producing quality motherboards, alongside MSI and Asus.
