For years GIGABYTE has been among the best of the best when it comes to motherboards and other computer components. Today we will have the pleasure of looking at one of their flagship products, the G1.Killer Sniper 5 motherboard. The G1.Sniper 5 is a beast of a board, both in features and size. Before we delve to far into the features, it’s certainly worth mentioning that the G1.Sniper 5, like it’s predecessors carries a pretty steep price tag. Read on to find out if it is!

The motherboard market is loaded with options targeted squarely at overclockers and the general enthusiast, but finding a board – much less an entire series – dedicated to gamers is difficult. GIGABYTE realized that back in 2011, and thus its G1 series was born. In this article, we’re taking a look at the company’s current Z77 offering, the G1.Sniper 3.

Over the years we've seen more and more products aimed at gamers and Gigabyte have harnessed this very well, as they cater for gamers in more ways than one. This stems from their VGA range, to their peripherals, gaming notebooks and of course gaming related motherboards.
Their motherboards aimed at gamers have for the past few years been branded under the G1-Killer series and have to say the least been very successful. I have to be honest as well, due to me having a bit of a soft spot for the complete range due to its amazing colour scheme and key gaming features, which generally includes improved audio, multi-GPU support and improved networking capabilities.
With the launch of the Z87 chipset and Haswell 4th generation processors, we find some new models being added to this range, which leads us to the G1.Sniper 5 board that we have with us today, but does it offer up anything new with thanks to the new Z87 chipset? That's what we are here to find out today, and with a huge box presenting the board, we can only assume that it comes with a mammoth amount of accessories.

The Gigabyte G1.Sniper 5 is a high-end socket LGA1150 motherboard targeted for the "Haswell" processors (fourth-generation Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors). Its main highlights include the presence of a professional grade audio circuit, two Gigabit Ethernet ports (one of them being a high-end Killer E2200 controller chip), Wi-Fi interface, and more.

Next up on our line-up of previews for the latest Intel based motherboards we find ourselves with another Gigabyte board in our presence. You may have already seen some of the other Gigabyte previews that we've done in the past week including the Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 which is the Micro-ATX version of what we have today; its big brother, the G1.Sniper 5.
The G1.Sniper 5 is part of the G1-Killer series of boards and is one of the top-end boards from Gigabyte with a full ATX form factor and a bundle load of features packed into it, so today gives us the chance to show our readers exactly what this top-spec board is all about. The only issue that we have is that we are of course bound by Intel's NDA which is coming up very soon, and therefore we can't mention anything to do with Intel or their new chipset or 4th generation CPU processors so please bare with us for the upcoming review of this board where we will be unleashing the benchmarks and performance results as well as showing how far this bad boy can go in terms of overclockability.
The G1.Sniper 5, just like its little brother incorporates the famous G1-Killer green and black colour scheme that it's been made famous for. A black PCB is at the heart of this board with green accented components including the DIMM slots, PCI-Express lanes and of course the thermal heatsinks which also add some unique features that we've not seen on this range of boards before.
Motherboards
The G1.Sniper 5 Z87 motherboard from Gigabyte is packed with all bells and whistles and offers stuff like Killer E2200 NIC, a solid 16-phase VRM, Sound Blaster Core3D audio with interference PCB isolation and replaceable OP AMPs, a 2-in-1 heatsink on the VRM which also acts as a water block, 4-way CrossFireX/SLI support and many more.
