X79 has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues for quite some time, and with AMD not being the big hit that everyone thought it would be, Intel has gained a much bigger following than they first anticipated. Asus we knew would be one of the first to showcase what fantastic new boards they were going to release and whilst we knew the Pro and Deluxe would be available, we didn’t hear much about Sabertooth or ROG. We can now confirm, and after the fact that we saw it first hand at an exclusive Asus X79 event, that a Sabertooth board will be released.

We're getting through the boards, though, and the latest one for us to fire up comes from ASRock and follows the Fatal1ty series. The ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional looks the part, but today we'll see how it performs with the new AMD FX-8150 from AMD.

In this article PCSTATS is reviewing the Intel P67-based ECS P67H2-A Black Extreme motherboard which uses a revised 'B3' stepping Intel P67 chipset. The ECS P67H2-A Black Extreme is a performance oriented ATX motherboard with a fantastic set of gaming and overclocking features, all set on a sleek black and grey PCB that'll make your expensive chassis proud. While the board does not officially support Crossfire/SLI, it can handle up to 3 videocards running in parallel thanks to an onboard Lucid HydraLogix 200 'LT24102' chip. Lucid's Hydra Core technology is notable because it supports combinations of nVidia and ATI graphics cards working together.

With the launch of the Intel X79 based motherboards approaching very soon, certain models have been long awaited and of course, the main suspect is part of the Republic of Gamers range of boards from Asus. We were lucky enough to see the Rampage IV Extreme at a recent Asus X79 event and until now, was made to wait until we could get it into our test chamber.

At launch it looks like ASUS is going to be covering a wide range of price points and user needs. The other week we managed to take a close look at the ASUS P9X79 Pro and Deluxe. If you're interested in living a bit more on the extreme side of things, then no doubt the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme is going to be the board that will grab your attention.

Today's review product is the latest to come from the ECS Black Series range and is their take on AMD's 990FX chipset. This AM3 board is ideal for use with the new FX (Bulldozer) range of 8-core CPUs and features some excellent functionality such as support for SATA3, USB 3.0, Crossfire and SLI.

The MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard brings forth a lot for computer enthusiasts to get excited about, not the least of which are dual PCI Express x16 videocard slots, (4) USB 3.0 ports, (6) SATA 6GB/s ports and specialized tools for seasoned overclockers. For example, if you're one to break out a digital multimeter while overclocking there are handy voltage read points next to the boards' DDR3 memory slots. In the continuing war on capacitor dominance, MSI have turned to low profile heat tolerant solid-state Tantalum caps around the LGA1155 CPU socket.

Feuer !
