Today we will be taking a look at the latter, a full size ATX board based on the H55 chipset from EVGA, aptly dubbed the EVGA H55, part number: 123-CD-E635-KR. Aside from being a full size board, EVGA’s offering brings some innovative features to the table, such as dual heatsink mounting support which allows you to mount either a Socket 775 or Socket 1156 heatsink and EZ voltage read points which allow you to quickly and easily check the voltages of your system with a voltmeter directly from the motherboard. Continue ahead as we take an in-depth look at the EVGA H55 Motherboard.

Motherboards based on the new H55, H57 and Q57 chipsets are targeted to the new Core i3 and Core i5 processors with integrated video, and EVGA has so far released two different models based on H55, simply named H55 (the most complete model, USD 170 MRSP) and H55V (entry-level model, USD 100 MRSP). By the way, wouldn't be nice if all motherboard manufacturers used simple product names? Let's take a look on the most complete model, H55 (a.k.a. 123-CD-E635-KR we knew our happiness wouldn't last forever).

First up today is the Z77 FTW, a high end board for socket 1155 CPUs. With plenty of enthusiast features. We will also be taking a look at EVGA's factory overclocked GTX 670, two in fact, in the latest games including Max Payne 3 and Counter Strike Global Operations.

What is there to say? The EVGA X58 E761 Classified is like an over-the-top blockbuster movie; it wows you on all fronts all the while costing an arm and a leg to produce. Core i7 is a new processor and motherboard and BIOS engineers are still figuring it out, but the team at EVGA has clearly stumbled across something to be able to release a board that pushes these chips past the notorious 220MHz base clock wall. This board reminds me a lot of the Asus LGA775 Rampage Extreme, except the Rampage Extreme came so late in the game.

So you need more CPU power than what a single Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition processor can provide? Look no further than the EVGA Classified SR-2 motherboard. Anyone who has been following along the enthusiast motherboard industry knows exactly what this motherboard is all about. We take it for a spin with two high end Hexa-core Xeon processors and look what kind of performance you can expect if you can afford a platform like this!

The Classified SR-X is an overclocking motherboard that doesn't overclock. It's a shame for EVGA, but really the only honest conclusion here is that the Classified SR-X is a pointless motherboard. When we asked, EVGA informed us that it was unknown to them during the development of this board that the Xeons would be completely locked. The manufacturer still hopes that unlocked Xeons will be released at some point in the future, but from Intel's perspective we see no reason for that actually happening. EVGA will likely be waiting in vain.

We recently published a round-up of 32 motherboards with the Intel Z77 chipset. If you're not planning on overclocking and won't be using more than one graphics card, then there is a more affordable version available of the Ivy Bridge chipset called Intel H77. The chipset itself costs less, and motherboard manufacturers are also making less comprehensive boards. That means that you can buy a motherboard for your Ivy Bridge processor for around £70 already.

Overall I was happy with the performance and user experience with the ECS Gank Machine Z87H3-A2X Extreme motherboard. Right now you can pick up the ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme for as little as $239.99 which certainly isn't the highest cost motherboard to come across the Legit Reviews bench, nor is it the lowest cost. Overall I didn't have any issues with the ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme Z87 motherboard at the settings we used for testing today. It wasn't until I started working on the overclocking that it got a little tricky...
