Gigabyte’s lineup of Intel X79 or Sandy Bridge-E motherboards is only made up of four boards. For gamers there is the G1 Assassin 2, X79-UD7-OC for overclockers, and X79-UD5 for enthusiasts. This brings us to the X79-UD3 which is Gigabyte’s entry-level and least expensive Intel X79 motherboard coming it at $249. Sandy Bridge-E is Intel’s high-end platform and the X79 chipset is much improved over its P67/Z68 counterparts. You now have 40 PCI-Express 3.0 lanes and quad-channel memory. That means with this board you can easily throw in up to 32GB of DDR3 and run 4-way Crossfire or SLI right out of the box. Also this is the first time we will see Gigabyte’s 3D BIOS. Read on as we inspect the X79-UD3 Motherboard.

There are two models the Z87 M Power and the Z87 MPower Max, today I am going to dive in and take a look at the Z87 M Power. I’m excited to see what sets it apart from MSI’s gaming boards.

MSI have a reputation for making great motherboards and their previous 790FX GD70 board received much critical acclaim. Not willing to rest on their laurels however, they went back to the drawing board and made some changes with the 890FXA GD70 in regards to board layout. With the new AMD 890FX chipset and SB850 Southbridge complimenting the USB 3.0 and SATA 6gbps ports this board looks to be fully locked n’ loaded.

ASUS’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) products cater to gamers and hardware enthusiasts. Many of these same people attend LAN parties. No want wants to lug a huge system to a LAN party, it just is not fun. That is one of the reasons why ASUS has a “Gene” line of motherboards. These are micro ATX boards that are perfect for building a great LAN or small for factor system. Many people think micro ATX boards lack many features that normal ATX boards have, but the board we are taking a look at today is a ROG board. The ASUS Maximus V Gene features an all digital power delivery design in their Extreme Engine Digi+ II, a mPCIe combo card so you can add an mSATA SSD or a mPCIe card of your choice, ASUS’s own 8-channel Supreme FX III sound solution, CrossFireX and SLI support, and native PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0. That is just the tip of the iceberg there are so many features in this board you won’t believe it is only a micro ATX board! Read on as we take a look...
