While ASUS and MSI have focused a lot of marketing energy promoting the new UEFI BIOS interfaces - UEFI is the BIOS that works with a mouse and adds room for enhanced graphical interfaces - Gigabyte has gone in another direction. The Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD5-B3 motherboard uses a traditional text-based BIOS but augments that with a Windows based hybrid-EFI BIOS called Touch BIOS.

AMD’s latest chipset offering adds in some interesting new features, including support for the upcoming 8-core processors and re-introducing SLI on the AMD platform. Does it make sense to buy now?

I'm quite a fan of the Fusion platform; I've built myself a really nice little HTPC for my room based around the AMD Brazos platform using the wonderful ASUS E35M1-I Deluxe Motherboard. Today we see the next level of Fusion, introduced to us in the form of the Llano platform and the Lynx APU. The Llano platform is what AMD hope will become the mainstream platform to use; based on what we saw from the Brazos platform we have to say that there's a good chance they're heading in the right direction.

The GIGABYTE Z68X-UD7-B3 motherboard is the latest in a long line of Intel motherboards. Built on the Intel Z68 Express chipset the GIGABYTE Z68X-UD7-B3 supports the latest second generation of Intel Core iX series of processors. So with out a doubt we are going to see some performance! Something's missing though! What is it? Read on to find out what!3

Like any major chipset release, there's bound to be a bunch of boards come in and the release of the new Llano platform is no different. The A75 board that sat at the top of the pile today when it came to grabbing the next product to test is the ASRock A75 Extreme6. Before I started writing this, I actually headed over to NewEgg just to see what kind of price point the A75 Extreme6 came in at, and I found myself legitimately surprised to see that it was currently the most expansive A75 board at $139.99. Don't get me wrong, $139.99 is an extremely good price, but it's just a counteraction to the fact that we usually associate ASRock with offering us some of the cheapest boards on the market. Saying that, we've seen more expensive boards come from the company and stand out.

There are a wide array of motherboard manufacturers cranking out AM3+ boards, with chipsets ranging from the venerable 760G up through the gamut of 800 series. Of course AMD has also refreshed its chipset naming to match the new CPUs, and motherboards based on the 970, 990X and top dog 990FX are also available. It's two of these 900 series of boards that ASUS has sent over for review; the one we will be focusing on today is the Sabertooth 990FX.

The Lynx platform, otherwise known as Llano for desktop, is out in full force now. The new chipset offers something of an alternative to low-end Sandy Bridge systems with comparable CPU power and extremely heightened GPU power. These APUs don't themselves a system make, however, and all the usual manufacturers have been providing a plethora of motherboards in which to place your new Lynx APU. In this article Benchmark Reviews is taking a look at the MSI A75MA-G55 motherboard. The MSI A75MA-G55 sports the new FM1 socket which takes Llano APUs. Currently the two available are the A8-3850 and the A6-3650, which come ready to rock with Radeon HD discrete level graphics. We have already seen the performance of the AMD A8-3850 APU, now let's look at the MSI design for the A75 chipset and how they differ from the competition.

Over the last couple of years, we have seen ASRock move from a small player in the budget sector, to a fully fledged manufacturer of some of the industry’s finest products, proven time and time again in our review analysis. The A75 Extreme 6 is another board marketed for the discerning enthusiast audience.

Since the launch of the A8 and A6 series of APUs from AMD, the motherboards we've looked at have revolved around the A75 chipset. It's a great chipset, offering some great features like SATA III and USB 3.0 support. It seemed like everyone had forgotten about the A55 series chipset, though, which launched at exactly the same time.
