AMD's latest flagship chipset, the 890FX, has arrived in the form of the MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard. This socket AM3 mainboard is designed from the ground up for performance enthusiasts and promises innovations like native SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0, increased PCI Express 2.0 bandwidth for ATI Radeon videocards in four-way Crossfire, and support for 45nm AMD processors up to 140W TDP including 6-core Phenom II X6 processors.

In our days of multi-part cooling systems, original designs and high-speed interfaces, ASUS still has a few spartan products to offer. ASUS P7H55-M Pro is a decent, unpretentious product. While it's not quite up-to-date, you may still put it to good use, if you only need the necessary features the H55 chipset already has.

Foxconn is not a new comer to the TweakTown labs, but it is a rarity to have the products up on the bench. After our testing with the 890GX based A9DA-S, we wanted to see more. In response to our request Foxconn sent along their entry level H55MX-S motherboard.

Motherboards like GA-770TA-UD3 show that company's technical marketing department earns its salt. Today's model is clearly designed for gradual upgrade, for users who want to continue using peripherals they already have and be able to use new devices as well.

The AMD 880G Northbridge and SB850 Southbridge are two of the latest bits of chipset silicon designed to bolster AMD's position in the mainstream PC market. They were released about a month apart this Spring, as part of a full line of 800-series chips, and ASUS wasted no time putting them into production. Key items that help make the M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard stand out are native support for SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0, and AMD's latest game changer, the Phenom II X6 CPU. With both Core Unlocker and Turbo Unlocker functionality built right into the board, this combination could be the magic ticket to dynamic-clocked, quad core processing on the cheap. Benchmark Reviews is pleased to review one of the latest ASUS motherboards, using the latest entries from AMD's new 800-series chipset.

The latest mainstream socket 1156 motherboard from ASRock, P55 Extreme4, comes with four SATA-600 and four USB 3.0 ports. Let’s take a look at it.

The Rampage II Gene was a pint sized rocket of a board delivering all the performance and features you'd expect from a full ATX flagship in a Micro ATX format. With the introduction of important features like USB 3.0 and 6Gbps SATA, the Gene II is starting to look a little overpriced and outdated however, particularly when compared to other products available like the excellent P6X58D-E we reviewed not long ago. Asus addresses this problem with the release of the Rampage III Gene, essentially a next generation update to its predecessor.

Even for us that work daily in the high-tech industry it is hard to keep track of all codenames Intel uses for their chipsets and then trying to remember what commercial name Intel gave to each one of them. For the average user it is really complicated trying to understand exactly what product an article or review posted on an enthusiast-oriented media is talking about, especially when they are using the codename instead of the final product name. In order to help everybody out there (including ourselves), we decided to compile a series of quick cross-reference tables containing all the codenames Intel use for their chipsets and the actual product name. Enjoy.

Let's take a look at ECS A890GXM-A2 motherboard, which is basically an A890GXM-A from the same manufacturer with two USB 3.0 ports added.
